āHere, every day is the same.ā
Levi says āhereā like it is the object of disdain, so she knows he means here, not just within the city, but within the walls.

Her prompt is too vulnerable; itās an accident when she lets it slip sheāll consider going beyond them. Mikasa wants to steel herself, to roll her eyes or release a scathing scoff; but instead, she watches his thumb trace over the raised scar at the base of her pointer finger.
The breath he lets out sounds like laughter, but it isnāt the sort that is evoked by mirth. He releases one of his hands from her knuckles; she is almost startled when two of his calloused fingers rest under her chin. He lifts her face to look at him, and she isnāt able to see what else is in his steel-slanted orbs other than sadness, though she senses something stirs beneath them.
āOut there, every day is different.ā Now, a brief quirk in his lips āĀ itās bittersweet. āWhen every day is different, you have to at least think about the next day enough to prepare for whatever it might bring.ā
She sighs, another accident when she rests into the hold he has on her chin. For a split second his hand fans out, the back of his fingers brushing against her loosened jawbone, but then his touch is absent from both her cheek and her wine glass.Ā
When Mikasa reaches to touch her chin, she blames it on the instinctual habit from reaching for her old scarf. She drops her hand to her lap.
