Hey y’all! This November 25th please consider purchasing (or reblogging this post) some beaded earrings to support an Indigenous activist and student who is unable to work (me). All of these have been lovingly made by me and will be smudged before being sent to you!
I am asking for $17-$18 dollars plus shipping
I can do custom orders for color but there may additional charges if you are asking for a color I don’t have. I also can make beaded lanyards and loom beading if anyone is interested!
If you’d like to support me without buying earrings my G*F*ndM* can be found here!
“You’re too young to be tired” first of all, I’ll bite you
I just got a car and started driving again so I was thinking about some safety things for D/deaf/HoH drivers. One huge concern is the possibility of being pulled over and encountering the police.
I have a magnet similar to this on my car in case of that situation
I also keep a notepad and pen in my glove box with my insurance card and registration. I keep everything is in one place so I won’t have to reach around and look like i’m searching for “something”
—-
I also found this article with more information—
https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2016/deaf-driver-safety-police-kb.html
Drivers with hearing loss should be extra cautious when pulled over by the police, as a recent tragedy in North Carolina reminds us. We have
Too many deaf folks have been killed by police, already. Stay safe!
(Hearing people are encouraged to reblog)
I also have a Deaf Driver card
mine is from Gallaudet, so all the information is for DC but its still effective to let an officer know you’re d/Deaf no matter where you are. It goes in the visor of whatever car I’m driving.
Spread this like butter on cornbread.
I am 20 years old, Two-Spirit, street medic organizer for an Indigenous street medic collective. I was among the arrested during ceremony at the Red Lake Treaty camp.
On Friday July 23rd I was in sacred ceremony and peaceful prayer with many others on treaty land as protected by our Article 6 and 1st amendment rights. Ceremony started at dawn, and by noon riot police had surrounded those in prayer on all sides. I saw no riot, I saw no disturbance of peace, what I saw was water protectors from all walks of life and from all over coming together to pray for our Mother Earth, for the water, for the future of all of the Creators creatures. Despite this, I watched as law enforcement violently grabbed and detained those dear to my heart and then eventually myself as well. We sat in jail for 4 days, many of us denied medical treatment, medication, changes of clothes, and menstrual products. During and after my arrest I was suffering from heat exhaustion, as well as complications from being denied my medication for nearly two days. For two days I was violently ill, unable to keep even water in my stomach without vomiting. I attempted to explain that with my pre-existing health conditions as well as heat exhaustion that I needed to be taken to a hospital or be seen by medical professionals. I had my basic vitals taken, was given some tums, which I was later made to pay for, and told to lay down and drink water. Police showed a blatant disregard for constitutional law, human life, and Mother Earth, a disregard that will not stop with reform, not with new laws or optional standards. The police are in Enbridge’s pocket too. It will not stop until police are abolished and Enbridge stops violating the land, water, and people. Today it is us, tomorrow it will be you. Will you stand by and watch?
If you feel called to, please consider donating to my G*F*ndM* so I can continue doing work to protect our waters and Mother Earth

Tw // abuse mention, psychological/mental torture.
So earlier today, a court ruling dismissed a regulation that would have banned a GED, a shock device used to punish autistic/disabled people's ND behaviors. This device has caused many autistic people psychological and mental/emotional trauma and we need your help to stop this. This isn't just activism, this is basic human rights on the line. More info below:
What you can do to help is to fill out this form below against the use of the GED or any other kind of torture device used on disabled people. As an autistic woman, I am practically begging you to take action with me. (Please note this can only be filled out by US citizens!!!!!)
Autistic Self-Advocacy Twitter Post. / Link here.
Feel free to add any more information you can find!
Use the tag #StopTheShock to raise awareness!!!!
Actually fuck Canada day. Instead of spending money on festivities, maybe support indigenous people today? I'm a third generation survivor of residential schools, and proudly Wetʼsuwetʼen.
We're short for food because we've been focusing on paying down our debts so bills aren't overwhelming every month.

If you're indigenous drop your payment info!
My v*nm* is @ organicrenegade , I’m a Two-Spirit latine street medic who’s been violently targeted by police and right wing extremists. Im also a first generation college student and full time activist/water protector/street medic! Any support is greatly appreciated ❤️✊🏼
Hey y’all! Today I come to you asking for support to something very close to me, my community has faced extreme violence from law enforcement and fascists and a community member is in need of support for their legal funds, security, and recovery costs. Here is the statement on the fundraiser:
“I am an Olympia street medic who needs your support. I am trained street medic who has provided aid at 100+ actions in western Washington in support of the black liberation movements and was arrested at an action after the Breonna Taylor verdict. The Olympia police have actively been a violent force in the community as well as passively letting fascist attack the community. As a result of this I am facing legal charges and my personal information being spread with out my consent (doxxing). My car has been vandalized, Ive been targeted, I’ve been assaulted, and have been a victim of unjust arrest, police brutality, and harassment. I am currently unable to work and need your help to be able to cover legal, home/self security, and recovery costs. This is something that I have been very hesitant to ask for but I know I need to trust my community to support me. All funds raised will go directly to my court fees, self security installation, and my physical and emotional recovery. If I receive more than I need any extra donations will be distributed to other groups fighting for our rights in Olympia”
The fundraiser is currently at $330/2,500 ❤️
I am an Olympia street medic who needs your support. I am trained str… Joshua Johnson needs your support for Support a Queer Latine Street m
I’ve been wanting to made a post about this for a while now, so, here we go. It’s been just about a year since I moved to go to college, and this year practically started a new life. Through my work in activism I’ve truly embraced my identity as a Chicano and learned to love my Brown body 🤎 This past year I’ve grown so much and found my community always has my back, for years I’ve been a lone wolf, but I’ve found through activism work where I belong. Despite 2020 being one of the hardest years of my life I’ve learned so much and I hope you all have too, and for 2021 I hope I will continue to blossom and learn. ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
I said it in the notes on the last post but I’m gonna say it again.
I’m married to someone with severe memory problems. Automation of household appliances & systems helps him a lot and helps me a lot because it reduces the number of things I have to keep in my brain at all times. I love doors that lock themselves, being able to schedule dog food being delivered, a thermostat I can manipulate from wherever. Beyond my little bubble it should be noted that voice controlled appliances can be really good for people with mobility concerns. Appliances that can measure and talk and remember little tasks can be such a blessing for people.
I will never forgive Amazon and Google for taking technologies that could be really helpful and weaponizing them, and fuck everybody who acts like its some kind of conspiracy theory that those devices are spying on you. You absolutely should be distrustful of those devices but just make sure you’re getting angry at the right people.
Making accessibility devices evil is just like so Disney villain
My mom is blind and without her Alexa literally could not cook, go shopping, or do a million other things. Because Alexa is voice-activated, she doesn’t have to fumble with knobs or write a list she can’t read.
I will never forgive Amazon for how much I hate a tool that allows my mother to live her life.
Open source and secure alternatives for some of these:
- Voice activated smart speaker: Mycroft (can be purchased as a complete unit, or DIYed with a Raspberry Pi and microphone+speaker array) https://mycroft.ai/
- Smart Home automation: home-assistant (cannot be purchased, originally developed by MIT) https://www.home-assistant.io/
- Zigbee (the wireless protocol for smart lights and other smart devices) bridge: Conbee II (this takes the place of a Phillips Bridge, for instance. And is in many cases better because it works with all brands of smart light that use Zigbee--which is almost all of them, including the cheap IKEA ones--and also works for devices that aren’t lights. Cannot really be DIYed because Zigbee needs special hardware, not just software) https://phoscon.de/en/conbee2
I don’t know any alternatives for locks, vacuums, thermometers, or anything else sadly. None of these are that difficult to set up with just a little bit of tech know-how, and extensive guides already exist for almost all problems you could run into because the open-source community is almost psychotically dedicated to its projects, unlike Amazon, Google, and Apple where it’s practically impossible to get help with any problem that’s even slightly unusual.
Oh thank you!! These area really neat
Oh thank you so much! My grandmother has an alexa and it’s really improved her enjoyment of life, but I hate even talking around it. It’s linked to my amazon and I’ve gotten suggestions based on things it’s heard. That wigs me out so much.

Cutie with an IV?
(also I’m trying tumblrs alt text for my image description let me know if it works for y’all! I’ll go back to what I usually do if it doesn’t)
If you are unable to attend walk out or marches because of a disability or mental illness that does not make you a bad activist!! Activism is not limited to marches! Disabled activists are not any less of an activist for not going out to protest!
I’m re-posting this because I feel it’s especially relevant right now, during the intersection of the Black Lives Matter movements happening around the world right now and it being disability pride month
