"Figured I'd find you out here..." At such a high energy event that relied on such fierce levels of socialisation, it was inevitable that both of the Kirishima twins would eventually sneak off for a breather, seeking some peace for their minds before they face the crowds again. Eiji is almost certain their friends take bets on which of them dips first at this point, but he's not been able to confirm it. He wanders across to join his brother at the railing, holding out a drink from the two he's carrying, waiting for it to be taken before he adopts a more casual lean. The noise of the party drifts out, the sounds of chatter and celebration about the leading support company filter into the air and he smiles softly, proudly about the brother who has come so far. "To you, Kai. Always knew you'd be the first of us to hit number one." It's genuine the way he smiles and clinks their glasses together, content to never be at such a spot himself. He's high enough it the charts for it not to matter. They are both outstanding figures in their fields, both renowned names. And he is proud that the safest, most sought after, equipment is that which his brother produces. "We're all so proud of you! Pretty damn manly of you, y'know?"

eiji always knew where he was. it's probably a twin thing -- to know where the other was at each moment, to feel their emotions as an extension of your own. so when his brother hands him the cup and clinks their glasses together, and kai takes a sip, perhaps eiji can feel the concern, the anxiety, that courses through him.

kai leans with his arms outstretched against the banister, one hand clenching the top, the other holding to his glass. his head down, he stares at his way - too - nice shoes. shoes keisuke'd bought for him just a few weeks ago in preparation for the support portion of the hero gala. maybe keisuke had gotten the news early, had found out through some in at the hero commission exactly who won when it came to ' best support company '. kai looks to his brother, and then back down. " i think i'm gonna be sick. " not physically, not yet, but still -- the weight of the world felt like it was on his shoulders.

it was clear that some other support companies and their leaders -- older, more experienced ceos, were not pleased when kaitech's name was read out. kai couldn't blame them. he was young, just a few years out of high school, and had shown them all up. kai blinks, looks out at the city skyline. " i know i should be excited. "

EIJIRO, ON HIS BACK, leans with his head on the edge of katsuki's bed, red hair falling down around him and into his eyes. he blows upwards to knock some strands out of his line of sight, but that doesn't do much. ( man, he REALLY needed a haircut ). " what are you working on ? " he asks curiously, glancing towards his boyfriend. OH BOY, was it that obvious ? as the rest of their classmates run their free time training drills, the redhead sits off to the side, an uncharacteristic FROWN on his lips. eijiro doesn't try to let his mood sink low often-- he hated the feelings it brings, but sometimes it was too hard to keep up the front, especially when ochako comes forward to ask him point blank if he was doing okay. " -- i'm FI --. . i mean, i guess i'm a little annoyed. " there was no sense in lying, he supposes. " i just feel like i've hit a wall with training. a plateau, or whatever. "

" -- I DON'T KNOW, man. i just don't get it. i hate math. " kiri sighs, placing his head on his folded up arms. the library was almost empty, and while he and monoma weren't CLOSE, eijiro had taken to sitting near him over the past few weeks as they work on homework. maybe just to get some inspiration for actually getting work done instead of PROCRASTINATING.

ideally,  iida  prefers  to  to  be  in  charge  of  his  own  maintenance  &  the  maintenance  of  his  support  gear.  unfortunately,  he  isn’t  so  bold  (  or  arrogant  )  to  claim  that  he  has  the  same  1  )  complex  knowledge  of  mechanics  or  physics  or  2  )  creative  thinking  (  ???  )  as  those  who  work  in  the  support  labs. that  said  —  he  knows  engines.  iida  knows  the  way  that  his  body  integrates  machine  with  organic  matter;  he  knows  its  maintenance,  &  it’s  hard  to  separate  support  gear  from  the  rest  of  him. so  he  often  delays  meetings  with  support. .  .  .  &  this  has  its  consequences. the  longer  he  delays  meetings,  the  more  energy  hatsume  builds  up.  the  more  ideas  she  proposes,  &  the  more  there  is  to  maintain. &  now  there’s  a  mild  error  with  his  equipment,  &  he’s  not  emotionally  prepared  for  hatsume’s  ideas  — so  he  intrudes  upon  kai’s  workspace  during  his  lunch  hour  &  pretends  it  wasn’t  cowardice. ‘  forgive  me,’  he  begins  without  making  any  requests. it’s  a  solid  start.

kaito frowns, watching as iida steps gingerly into the room. either the 1 - a class president was injured, or he was nervous. kai decides on the latter, because he's never been very good with reading emotions, especially on near strangers. " you don't have to be sorry. you haven't done anything. come in. " kai gestures to one of the nearby chairs. since the lab was basically empty at this hour, they had all the space in the world.

as iida steps closer, kai eyes the equipment on his legs, tries to discern the issue. the problem, of course, is that kai had never done any work with iida before, and he was a special case. as in -- it was difficult to make support gear for quirks like his.
