Name: Ros (pronounced 'Roz')

Age: ~40, equivalent of a young adult

Species: Dragon

Gender/Sexuality: Agender, bi gray-aro ace

Personality: Generally self-centered in motivation, albeit with a strong and practical moral code. They are amicable and at times desperate for others to like them, but not at the expense of their own plans. Ros is also very curious, bordering on nosy, and can come across as off-putting as a result of this.

Background (brief): In their home in the Low Plane (magic world), Ros lived as a wandering scholar and favologist (the study of magic), due to their unique ability to literally see the presence and flow of mana. Their life was relatively peaceful, until one day they fell through a sudden Gate (portal) to the High Plane (human world), during which their magic was partially sealed, forcing them into a less-powerful, humanoid form. These Gates have become more and more common in recent years, mirroring the rising tensions between the Low and High planes ever since the conclusion of the massive war that occurred just over half a century ago. Stuck in a mysterious and unfamiliar world, Ros ends up joining a party with two human adventurers; and must balance keeping their identity secret, finding their place in the burgeoning war between planes, and hopefully finding an opportunity to further study the magic powering the Gates to get home.

Appearance (dragon): Wiry but muscled, about 2.5m tall (3m with wings) and 4.5m long, though most of the length is from their tail.

Appearance (humanoid): Ros' human form is medium-sized in height and weight, with tanned skin and dark blue, edging on black hair. They still have four eyes on their face, but can close the bottom pair. When closed, the eyes slightly “fade” away to become significantly less visible to an onlooker. If looking closely, they look like slightly discolored slits on the cheeks and neck. They have some small patches of scales throughout their body, typically on the outer side of joints, as well as a tail that mirrors their true form's tail, though at a reduced size.

Abilities: Ros has a high level of magic, even among other dragons. Most notably is their magic eyes ability, where their secondary pair of eyes as well as the eyes located on their wings can literally “see” the use of and residue from magic usage, as well as gatherings of large quantities of mana. This appears as a sort of fourth-dimensional wispy overlay over and inside of other objects visible normally, with distinct indescribable colors, textures, and strength depending on the kind of magic. Ros’ magic eyes can also see the same visible light spectrum as their primary set of eyes. This ability is notable because it requires a very low amount of mana to use, so low that it can be constantly used even in tandem with other abilities as long as their eyes are open. Additionally, Ros has their influence, which lets them compel other living beings to do certain things, surpassing potential language barriers. However, the complexity of commands scales with the intelligence of their victim, and the ability works easier on beings with higher levels of magic, and not at all on beings with absolutely no magic. Commonly, simple action commands such as "freeze", "leave", or "sit" work best, though Ros is particularly skilled at using their influence to force others to speak honestly. They also can use a breath weapon consisting of concentrated mana, which glows a vibrant electric blue and burns hotter and quicker than typical fire. The breath weapon works by spreading to areas with higher mana density, then "burning" it up. Its burning is not affected by wind or water. When in their sealed, humanoid form, Ros' magic is severely limited (with the exception of their magic eyes). 

Ros also has other more general magical abilities, but these are less refined and take a higher amount of effort for a weaker effect.

Design notes: Aspects of Ros' design can be simplified, as long as all of their eyes, main pointed horns, and tailtip are visible.
