"I don't have parents. Raised myself. I live on my own. There is an abandoned building not too far from that part of town. I live there. I'm pretty sure my parents were killed or something... I dunno for sure..."
"O-Oh... I'm sorry for bringing it up." Feeling awkward, and a little guilty, Rinto wondered if he should just keep his mouth shut until they got to his place. It wasn't like they were friends, so he couldn't think of anything to do or say in the situation he'd put himself in.
———————-♫
Rinto. Like… Rin? Maybe she was delusional.
If she could remember to ask, she would, once she was charged.
”I… I’m not… Going to die… Am I?”
She immediately regretted it. He was clearly young, and nervous, so why would he know? And why should she stress him out any more than he seemed to already be?
”I’m… Sorry… I didn’t mean… That…”
She took long, shaky breaths, and she felt her neck completely relax. She lifted her hand slightly to try and reach out to him, but it flopped to the ground with a soft sound and a faint metal clang.
Her eyes started dimming, in order to save power, and her eyelids became heavy.
“But… Soon? Ready?”
She couldn’t bear it much more.
"N-No, of course you're not going to die," he muttered out to her. He wasn't really sure a Vocaloid had the ability to die, but he'd rather not think of the possibility while Miku was in front of him and scared. The teen watched as she reached out for him and failed. He stared at her delicate looking hand for a few seconds, unsure of how to proceed. Slowly, his and moved and took her's into it, rubbing his thumb across the back of her hand in an attempt to settle her down.
"Very soon. Just try not to fall asleep on me okay?"
He offered a soft smile to her, but didn't exactly feel too sure of himself. He'd never been in this kind of situation and thought he was blowing it in massive proportions. Then, an idea struck him.
"Hey, how about we sing a little song together? It'll cheer you up some, I'm sure of it."
"Feeding people is kinda my thing." Grabbing the boy’s hand, he offered a smile and tugged lightly.
"Come on. I’m sure you’ll like it. I’m a really good cook if it helps you any."
"Well… That sounds nice…" He never really got home cooked meals. "I mean I you insist. I don’t want charity or anything." He shrugged. "Lead the way."
"I don't think of it as a charity. I just enjoy having people taste my food. I don't live too far away. It's just a train ride away." Rinto led the way to the train station he usually used to get back to his neighborhood. As he stood and waited for the next one, he turned and decided to be nosy for once.
"You called yourself a thief. Do your parents not make enough money at home?"
"Food?" He asked, more to himself than to the boy in front of him after deciding to drop the whole height...
"That's your food. You don't have to give me that. I can live with a couple dollars" he said stubbornly, the redhead didn't want to be pitied.

"Dude I'm 5'11. You are short." He chuckled, taking the money. "It will get me something to eat. Thanks..." He said. "Not many people let a thief have anything.... "
"Food?" He asked, more to himself than to the boy in front of him after deciding to drop the whole height issue. "I... don't normally deal with people. I'm not sure how most would react to anything. But if you're hungry, I can probably help you out." Rinto thought for a moment and motioned for the boy to follow.
"I made some food this morning I was going to take to school for lunch tomorrow. But you can have it if you want. It's not much, though, just fried chicken and some steamed vegetables."
The teen disliked when people where hungry. And if nearly having his bird go hungry for a few days before he got paid again meant he could have someone eat his food, he'd forgive the former incident.
"Really?" he asked. With as stubborn as the boy was being, he figured he’d have to pressure him a bit more to get his money back. Not missing his chance, he took the bill from the red-head’s hand and put it in his front pocket.
"Um… The store is over this way." Rinto pointed back to the way he had been originally heading before walking.
"I’m not a kid, by the way. I’m sixteen."
"Sixteen? Dang… You are so short I thought you were thirteen…" This girl wasn’t much younger than he was. He followed the blonde into the store.
"I'm not that short..." he retorted quietly, his pout once again on his lips. Rinto headed for the bird seed and picked up a small bag. He checked the price and nodded to himself before going to the front to pay. As soon as he got his change, he turned and held it out to the stranger.
"I'm still not sure how two dollars can buy anything other than some candy or something."
Unexpected
"Are you sure we’re almost there?"
"Of course! It’s just around the corner. I even called ahead so their keeping your favorite machine open for you. They even have a Sundae waiting for you." Rinto perked up as his High School friend gave him the details on the surprise he had set up for the blond’s eighteenth birthday. With a makeshift blindfold on made from the birthday boy’s hoodie being pulled low and the strings pulled out all the way so it only made a big enough hole for the teen’s nose and mouth to show, there was no way he could see where he was being taken. Listening as his sneakers skidded across the concrete, he allowed his friend to turn him and lead him into a building with music playing. He wondered why the arcade would play this kind of dance beat filled music instead of the usual light-hearted stuff they usually had on. He diverted from the distraction with the mental excuse that it was probably another thing his friend had tried to do for him.
"Alright, there’s a seat to your left so go ahead and sit down and take the hood off."
Rinto sat down and removed the hood to reveal his silken blond hair. His eyes opened to find nothing he was expecting. Instead of gaming machines and gamers, he found half naked people and older men drooling at the sight of them. The hair on the back of his neck stood on end as he turned his cerulean gaze to his buddy who was beaming back at him with the huge smile he usually got when he thought he did something awesome.
"Happy birthday, dude! Everything you want and more is already paid for and all on me!"
"…I…I just wanted to play games…"
An eighteenth birthday, a special day granting rite of passage for many young people, the allowance of many things to signify becoming of age.
Cash in hand, counted one by one, then securely placed into his personal safe in his private room. There was enough there for a client to have use of his services all night. He exited the room, and out into the loud music. His amethyst eyes scanned the area, finding the person who paid him.
”Hey, is this him?” he asked as he approached, gesturing to the boy in the chair.
Slapping his blond friend on the shoulder, he nodded. "Yep! I'll leave you two to get at it!" Rinto raised a hand in pathetically at his friend's figure as he walked away. With a looked completely unsure of himself and embarrassed about where he was. He'd never been to such a place as this and hadn't expected he ever would. Why had his friend chosen such a pretty guy to be... whatever it was he was suppose to be called. Stripper? Pole dancer? What was it they even did in places like these?
"I...I...Um... This wasn't what I was expecting..." he said as he lowered his head in defeat of the situation. It wasn't like he could waste his friend's money by up and leaving. These kinds of places were supposed to be pretty expensive if you spent long periods of time there and all of it had already been paid for. Rinto wasn't sure what the return policy was, but he would bet there probably wasn't one.
All I want right now is copious amounts of alcohol and someone to RP with to see how messed up of an RP I can put out without losing all function of my fingers and laughing at my table for ten minutes straight.
"Fine...." He frowned, passing the money back to the blonde. "Feed your bird Kid..."
"Really?" he asked. With as stubborn as the boy was being, he figured he'd have to pressure him a bit more to get his money back. Not missing his chance, he took the bill from the red-head's hand and put it in his front pocket.

"I found it." Inside the blonde's wallet. "There is plenty you can get for five dollars...." Like a twenty piece chicken nugget and a soda. Or a few sandwiches and a soda.... It was a decent meal for someone who couldn't eat on a regular basis. "I'm not telling you what it's for." He said stubbornly
Rinto was beginning to get a little ruffled with the guy now. He was already late leaving the net cafe and needed to get home to get started on his homework.
"Look, let me buy my bird's food and you can have the rest. It's either that or I follow you around until you get sick of it."
The boy could always call his sister and tell her he'd be late getting home if he needed to. Since he very rarely stayed out, they never worried about him getting into trouble.
"I don't care... Finders keepers." The thief hadn't eaten in a couple days. He couldn't give in because of some bird. "If you can't hold onto your money you shouldn't have it. And now you learned your lesson." He backed up a bit more.
"But... You didn't find it... You stole it."
Rinto put his hand on his hip and puffed out his lip in his usual irritated expression. He refused to give the kid room and stepped up further. He wouldn't have minded if he had asked him for money. Whatever was left after he bought his bird's food would have been handed over to the red haired boy, but Rinto wasn't a fan of stealing.
"Why do you need five dollars anyway? There's not a lot you can buy with it."
The redhead smirked, pocketing the five bucks and tossing the wallet back. "Most people don't hand cash over. Sometimes you gotta take it for yourself. Haven't you ever heard of taking the initiative, short stuff." He took a few steps away from the blonde, making plans to bolt for it. Though... He did admit... The girl looked cute. That was a chick right?
"But...I need that to pay for my bird's food..."
With Rinto's hair clips and soft voice, nobody could really fault the stranger for his mistake. With hats on and their hair pulled up, he and his sister were often mistaken for one another, even though he was older than she was.
"...and taking the initiative and stealing are different..."
The red head grinned as the blonde walked by him. He followed, but it wouldn't be for very long. The hooded young man skillfully swiped the blonde's wallet off of him. Then his direction changed. He began walking in the opposite direction as he sifted through the wallet, looking for cash. Maybe he could get a warm dinner later.
Rinto dug in his pants for his phone when he noticed there wasn't the certain tightness they usually had. Placing his hand on his backside, he realized his wallet was gone. Furrowing his brows, he tried to think of where he might have left it. Turning around he noticed the old hoodie wearing kid from the net cafe. Going on a hunch, he speed up his walk to catch up with him. When he was close enough to see the boy was looking threw his wallet, he tapped him on the shoulder.
"Most people would just ask for spare change..."
All Rinto had in his wallet was a picture of him, his sister and his small yellow Budgie along with the five dollars he had left over from the net cafe.
