Oh boy what a question. I've been a partisipant of countless events, but I'm currently running my first one. So I guess the main thing you need is a lot of determination.

Next. No matter what kind of event you have in mind, somebody somewhere had already done it. Look at the similar ones, find their FAQ page, their guidelines, their timelines. Find points that you like there that you think can apply to your event.

People in fandoms love to share their experiences, love to help. If you try searching up "how to run a ..." you will absolutely find people writing lengthy posts with advises. (I found really good one for running zines)

Create your interest check. Make several accounts on different platforms and tag it with appropriate tags. People will find it, they will share. An interest check is a great tool to see not only if people would like to participate, but give you a feedback on what they want to see there.

Once again, no need to invent the wheel, you can look at other similar interest checks online to see if any of their questions would work for you and your event.

Look for people to help if the event will start getting big. People will want to help and will be excited about it too!
