Still holding hands – because it felt good – Walter chuckled and guided Alonzo through the busy streets, the city as alive during night time as it was during the day. There was always someone walking around, people laughing and talking, food stalls… only the stores were closed but most of the small businesses like coffee shops and smaller bars were still open. People were always looking for something to do at night – even if that meant doing it around three or four in the morning. The coffee shop previously mentioned wasn’t that far and when they reached their destination, Walter was happy to notice that his usual table is still vacant – which meant he and Alonzo could take them for themselves.

before he knew it, they were stepping into the coffee shop, and alonzo took a moment to absorb the surroundings. it was cozy and charming, exactly the kind of vibe he expected from a place walter frequented. when a stranger asked walter if alonzo was his boyfriend, he glanced at walter and let out a quiet laugh. he noticed the way walter’s cheeks reddened. so, walter didn’t bring just anyone to his little café getaway? that was interesting...

he smiled politely at the middle-aged woman who had addressed walter before following him to his usual table. it was sweet that he had a regular spot, and alonzo relished the fact that he got to share this little piece of walter's life. when walter started to apologise, alonzo frowned and squeezed his hand reassuringly. "hey, you have nothing to apologise for," he assured him. "it wasn’t awkward at all." he leaned in slightly, a teasing smile on his lips. "it was actually cute how flustered you got, though..." he added, hoping to lighten walter's mood.

There was a moment when time seemed to freeze and all that remained and existed was himself and Caelan. Ever the boisterous one, the hot-headed, the snarky, the rude one… there were so many aspects of Caelan’s personality that anyone else would consider red flags, and yet Walter remained. Not because he believed he could change Caelan. He would never do that. But there was something underneath all that bravado and grumpiness that was genuine. He had been able to see it on occasion. Very rare moments when Caelan would just stop being bitchy and just be the man he could be. The one who embraced the good things that came his way rather than push them away – considering himself unworthy of them.

Walter could see the shift on his expression. That eyeroll that had nothing of sarcastic or rude. The annoying comment that almost sounded like a compliment. The posture that remained the same yet… not as tense as it had been a moment ago. Caelan was listening to him now. The threat of being bent over his knee and spanked definitely caught his attention. "i think you’re bluffing," caelan shot back, the challenge evident in his voice as he folded his arms over his chest, studying walter intently. he watched with steady eyes as walter transitioned from standing to sitting in caelan’s chair. his jaw tightened, an eyebrow raised at his lover. god, walter could be so damn sexy sometimes, and caelan doubted he even realized it. yypically sweet and a little shyer than caelan, walter was far from lacking in confidence, so it shouldn’t have surprised caelan that he could hold his ground.

"so," hummed loudly as she just looked over maya. searching for something interesting. naivety could only get her so far. it was cute for a few minutes but quickly became boring. "it's maya, right- what's your deal maya?" the blonde asks. "you've looked terrified this whole time."

her focus had been on willow the whole time, but now that willow's attention was back on her, maya smiled. "it is maya," she confirmed with a nod, liking the sound of her name on the blonde's lips. she laughed softly. "i wouldn’t say terrified, but i’m definitely out of my comfort zone," she admitted. "i’m a surgical intern, so i don’t really get out much... college was all about partying for most people, but i was too focused on my career and missed out on that side of things." she wasn’t sure why she felt the need to explain herself, but something about willow made her feel comfortable enough to do so.

"Absolutely" he nodded his head, and he genuinely meant it. "Dark and spicy huh? Sounds right up my alley..." he grinned. "How dark is dark?" He asked curiously and briefly wondered if it was a way of him implicitly expressing his desires.

"Can be both good and bad" he responded with a slight chuckle. He noticed he was much closer now, so he subtly placed his hand on Oliver's hip, testing the waters here. "I guess you have a point... are you an impulsive man, Olvier?"

before he could reply, the bartender placed their drinks in front of them, giving lucas a momentary distraction. he forced himself to thank the bartender, then took a long, steadying sip from his glass. "i don’t want to lose you either," he finally admitted, his voice just as soft as theodore’s. as his eyes found their way back to the other man, a wave of emotions crashed over him — everything from the burning desire of their first meeting to the raw pain of the present moment. could lucas stay with him, knowing he’d be the other man? he wasn’t sure. he didn’t have the answers but what he knew for sure was he couldn't walk away.
