it’s not about the government taking children, it’s about making sure the child has a proper environment and care and the movie showed low food lilo being alone ALOT as a young teen trying to take on responsibilities of a mother so her sister didn’t get put in foster her neighbors/family stepped in at the end to give lilo stability and her Nani can go to COLLEGE! This movie was so good!

Which reminded me of a passage from the first book of the Hunger Games:

I took over as head of the family. There was no choice. I bought our food at the market and cooked it as best I could and tried to keep Prim and myself looking presentable. Because if it had become known that my mother could no longer care for us, the district would have taken us away from her and placed us in the community home. I’d grown up seeing those home kids at school. The sadness, the marks of angry hands on their faces, the hopelessness that curled their shoulders forward. I could never let that happen to Prim. Sweet, tiny Prim who cried when I cried before she even knew the reason, who brushed and plaited my mother’s hair before we left for school, who still polished my father’s shaving mirror each night because he’d hated the layer of coal dust that settled on everything in the Seam. The community home would crush her like a bug. So I kept our predicament a secret.

Nani and Katniss are very similar. Both women step up to become maternal figures for their younger sisters. Both work to provide food for them. Both go without to give their sisters more. Their worlds revolve around their sisters, but their little girls are never a burden. They are never an anchor or a clipped wing. They are family, not something preventing them from living. They give them life, not take it away.

Having Nani give up Lilo is having Katniss give up Prim. Her whole reason for doing what she does is to keep Prim out of the home. Yet Disney has stripped Prim from Katniss, Lilo from Nani, and turned it into a “hopecore” story. That is not Nani. That is not Katniss.

hey so im redoing my fanfic because i feel like i prioritized pumping out chapters over genuine love and passion into the craft and into the hunger games franchise. and a big part of what im doing other than swapping characters and their districts is focusing on my original world building of district 12 i had in my notes (because lets be honest, a hunger games fic with no district 12 is sacrilegious) especially since i realized i unintentionally lined up frith being able to realistically know burdock. but the problem is; my victor is from district 10. so where do i go from here? because in my og fic it was from jackson (my victors) pov

I am writing these words with tears streaming down my face. I can no longer bear this pain. My wife is suffering from a severe deficiency in vitamins, especially vitamin D, and she urgently needs surgery to save her life. Her body is growing weaker day by day, malnutrition is stealing her strength, and I stand helpless watching her suffer.

All I wish for is to see her alive and healthy. Please help us provide healthy food, her medications, and fund the surgery that could save her life.
