I am still not slightly over how stupid and pointless that death was. I’m just… I have no idea what the people in charge were thinking. Was the CGI just too expensive? Even then, just keep her offscreen for a few episodes!! You already had her run away into the woods during the shootout, just have her stay separated half the season and come back for one epic final moment in the mid-season finale. At some point when her death could be significant. Have meant something.

Hell, have her be gone, have Ezekiel be convinced that she’ll come back at some point, and then have them charge the Saviors’ base and show Negan standing there with her head on a stake. Even that would have a gut-wrenching power to it. This was just… so truly pointless.

First off, don’t try to tell me a tiger couldn’t fight off that handful of half-decayed Walkers. It took more to kill the horse in the pilot, ok? So that’s just… that was just really bad on its own.

Second: there was no immediate danger. I mean… seriously. There were a handful of Walkers hanging around, sure, but our characters were in the clear. Literally all they needed to do was hop up that ridge and they’d pretty much be safe since Walkers aren’t particularly skilled climbers. The only thing that was keeping them in danger was Ezekiel’s ill-times suicidal crisis, and even so, don’t tell me Jerry couldn’t have just said “sorry, dude” and picked him up, carrying him away despite his protests. Or that Carol wouldn’t have just bopped him on the head with a handgun to knock him out so he could have his breakdown later. There was no danger beyond Ezekiel being stupid, and I… I’m not unsympathetic to what he must have been feeling right then, but the fact is that the only danger (small as it is) existed because he was putting them in it, and the only reason Shiva’s dead is because he was too stubborn to hop up a three foot incline to safety.
