What’s new: Ricky is smart. Like maths genius smart. He’s also a werewolf. Oops?
Ricky Beaumont is just your average guy, I mean sure he’s ridiculously smart and good looking, but really he’s just your average guy according to himself. He loves four things in life, maths, science, football and comic books, the ordering is negotiable. And okay, women too.
He always liked sports as a kid, he excelled at it, the same way he excelled at maths and science. But when it came to his sophomore year of high school, Ricky was faced with a choice. Go for the quarter back on the football team, play well, train hard, possibly make a college team and then inevitably suffer a career ruining injury if he even gets that far and be left with nothing; Or, throw in the towel, at least competitively, study hard, make it to college, make it through college, and get a job working for somewhere really cool like NASA. There was also the very real chance that dropping the team would be considered social suicide, but he took the plunge anyway. After all, no one else he was friends with knew how to make explosives, threw amazing parties or could pull off ridiculously elaborate pranks with science. They needed him. And miraculously he made it work.
He also made it into college, choosing a science degree with a maths major, he spent his yearly years working at the bar once the thrill of being one of the customers had faded and everything was great, until it wasn’t. One night in his final year of college he was walking home after closing up the bar, just minding his own business, when out of nowhere a huge frickin’ dog decided it would be fun to chase him through the outskirts of Kreagan. He was doing alright too, for a little while, until he tripped and then it was a blur of snapping jaws and pain. He stumbled home somehow, and dragged himself to his apartment above his parents garage. He was at the point of passing out, from both the pain and the blood. Were humans supposed to bleed that much? Miraculously, he pulled himself together enough to clean and bandage the wound as best he could, before falling face first into his bed and passing out for real. The next morning, there was nothing underneath the bandage. Like nothing at all. He’d obviously hallucinated the whole thing, right? Except now everything was so much sharper, sounds, smells, he could even see better and run faster. So he did what any gen Y did when they were in a tough spot, he turned to the internet. The results were alarming and concerning, but it looked like he’d been bitten by a werewolf. Shit.
As the end of senior year approached, he got offered a job as a TA in the science department, he didn’t have full control yet, but he took the job anyway and used the summer break to at least make sure he could be around students without going full rabid dog on them. It worked, and now he’s the hot science TA. His passion for comic books has never faded either, he liked the idea of people having all these powers, and he regularly brings out his Captain America cosplay whenever he can, and if the whole TA gig doesn’t work out, he has a fantasy of opening Kreagan’s first comic book store.
