The great Alaskan dream.
vol.3
The final act of our Alaskan dream was traveling north west to see the full glory of Matanuska glacier. Hard to explain the feeling of standing on a glacier. On one hand you simply feel blessed and overwhelmed by this natural wonder. One the other hand there is a hint of guilt on our part as we perpetually progresses in a lifestyle that is not only destroying our planet but also stealing the quality of life of the future generations that most likely won’t be as fortunate to witness this kind of wonders.
As I said the scenes are ever changing and just about an hour east away from the Matanuska we took a turn to this side road that led us to the hands dow the most beautiful valley i have ever seen. A river wide as the ocean, and the hearry mountains growing out of it. It seem like time stopped there, like there was no worries no work and no trouble just this simple scene that woke something deep within me.
Even tho we covered a lot of miles and seen a lot of places, we honestly haven’t done much hiking and well that had to change! Friendly local ranger pointed use to the Summit Lake area where you could do all the hiking you want. It was quite an experience to see circular lakes so far out in the mountains. The tourism is a real thing up in this places but you can still find nice quiet peaks where you can just be and let it be.
On our last day, on our way back to the Jim’s house Alaska blessed us with yet another gift. the most stunning sunset over a Takitna river. We stopped, said some nice words, smoke some weed and just relax and be grateful for the whole experience this magical land provided us.
Alaska thank you for truly being the last frontier.
I do hope to get back someday, I would love to see it in the winter I heard it is spectacularly brutal in the nicest sort of way.
