another year you made a promise
another chance to turn it all around
it’s the end of the decade. time for new year’s resolutions, i guess.
this year was chaos. i gave up a home i loved and a job i loved (albeit one that didn’t appreciate me) for a new city and a new job with an old friend and boss. at first, i thought i might regret it, but i know now that i couldn’t.
i have grown so much this year in so many ways, and i have learned what it means to have more than one home, and to have family in so many places. before this year is up, i want to say, without agenda, that i am going to appreciate my new home this year and i’m going to figure out what makes this city great, like the other cities i have called home.
i am also going to go on dates this year. it’s been almost two years since i’ve been on a date or been kissed and that’s enough. sure, this year was weird and my ex moved to the same new city that i did, but i’ve dwelled on that long enough. it’s time that i take my love life back.
finally, i’m going to take my life back this year. i’m going to learn to appreciate me and love me and be who i want to be. i’m going to take my social life back, and stop working so much. i’m going to go out when i want to and drink when i want to. i’m going to crush this job. i’m going to travel to at least one new place and do thing that scare me. i’m going to say yes. this is going to be a year of rianna, finally.
and, most of all, i’m going to be happy doing all of it.
