Viral Interventions: Proposal
First Proposal: In our initial proposal, a collective decision was made to designate one individual to illustrate our concepts, utilizing our collaborative input and ideas. The central theme of the first proposal is symbolized by a firearm encased within a badge, serving as a poignant metaphor advocating against silence and the epidemic of gun violence. Across all demographics, ranging from children to adults, lives are tragically lost daily. The focal point of my article highlighted the tragic loss of a 23-year-old security guard, a victim of a fatal altercation among patrons within a bar's patio in Doral. This incident resulted in six additional casualties: four men, two women, and a Doral Police officer who sustained an injury to the leg from gunfire. Such tragedies underscore the imperative to reevaluate the legality of firearm possession, restricting access to individuals beyond law enforcement personnel.
Second Proposal: The imagery centers around a gun enclosed within a circular motif, inspired by a parallel theme evoked by the recent solar eclipse phenomenon.
Third Proposal: In our final proposal, we have conceived a concept that embodies a barrier of protection, symbolically separating the aggressor from the victim. This visual representation is envisioned as a monumental installation, potentially on a billboard scale, although we acknowledge the logistical challenges. Despite the impracticality, the creative vision seeks to convey a powerful message to the global community without explicitly stating it in words. Additionally, we are contemplating a more interactive approach, possibly in a park setting, where posters could be displayed on a volleyball net. The act of throwing balls at these posters serves as a metaphorical call to action, urging society to confront and halt the epidemic of gun violence.
