“I’ve been searching for an excuse to show up at the hospital, so by all means…do it. I could use the extra courage.” Ryder passed Rhys a beer, eyes never leaving his. “Yes, actually. There’s no palce like home, though.”

Rhys was the first to drop his gaze, deciding to drop his pride just this once. A miracle in itself. But for the younger boy’s sake he took the offered beer almost as a sign of peace. “I watched a few of your games here and there, did pretty good this season.” He cleared his throat to break the awkwardness. “I take it you haven’t seen Jane yet?”

“Is there anything you need or would you just like to keep staring? I don’t mean to be rude, it’s just a practical question. Either way, take a seat. You’ve been there for a while.”

Rhys took the seat in front of him. “I was just trying to decide if it was worth it  to punch you. Have a nice trip?”
