That’s what the spirit had foretold, give or take an adowable mispwonunciation or two." CH8 PG1
I think the natural thing for everyone in the Paranatural fandom to think at this point in the comic is that the events at the end of Chapter 8 are the Sphinx's prediction coming to pass,
But what if that's not true?
I think it's entirely possible that the doom this prophecy portents has yet to arrive...
"This town will be destroyed," the Sphinx of Truth says. "This town," not "Mayview," but "this town," which is far more ambiguous as to the specific meaning.
So what happens at the end of CH8 is that reality is fundamentally altered to change the town of Mayview into the town of Bayview. But is it really a different town? This is a sort of Ship of Thesis argument but if all the people are the same, and all of their relationships are the same and all the buildings are in the same places only altered slightly, is it really a different town? Or is "this town," still that the town it always was.
And can we really say that it was ''destroyed" for the same reason? This is a semantic argument, but you can't tell me diction isn't somewhat important in a text based medium. See this from CH8 PG 76:
Reset, Transform, Change, Mor[ph]
These are the words used to describe The Great Unknown's effects on Mayview. These words are colored in rainbow and hand written, multiple times. None of them are synonyms for "destroy." Especially since it seems like this isn't the first time this has happened to [X]ayview, and [X]ayview is still here.
It seems to me like "this town will be destroyed," is at least plausibly different than: "Mayview will be transformed."
"Okay wise guy, so if the doom hasn't come yet then what does the prophecy mean?" Well, let's take a look at the other half:
"By summer's end."
Isaac himself says this on CH8 PG6:
"Or someone named Summer." Well too bad there isn't anyone named Summer in Paranatural. Lets all pack up and go home everyo- OH WAIT.
"Summers" is June Puckett's maiden name. CH7 PG90
What if it meant "By Summers' end?" I think we can discount the change of capitalization and punctuation here given the fact that the original prophecy (On CH6 PG44) had "an adowable mispwonunciation or two," CH8 PG1. It seems like the spelling in Paranatural is non-diegetic, see the best joke in the comic: "An evil brain man in Jim?!" CH5 PG100.
Okay, so if we're to assume it means by Agent Summers' end what does that mean exactly? Well I have (2) theories.
1st: It means her death, her "end," which already occurred 5 years before the events of the comic, CH2 PG9. I've seen people speculate that she might still be alive, but it would be weird if she were alive secretly only to die and destroy the town by dying. Not impossible though.
By "end," in this context it might rather mean the thing that killed her. We know a fire was involved CH8 PG2, but I don't think this prophecy is saying that a mundane wildfire will spread through [X]ayview and destroy it. More likely it would refer to whatever entity did the deed.
I'm guessing it would be either Forge or the Sphinx of Pacts, but we just don't know enough about the circumstances surrounding her death to do anything more than speculate at this point.
2nd: Summers is June's maiden name. So in a way getting married and having her name changed to Puckett is Summers' end.
Which would mean that...
That...
It's PETER GOD DAMN PUCKETT
When Peter Puckett married June, he became the reason she was no longer Agent Summers. He became "Summers' end."
Anyone who's seen my wacko Peter Puckett is Razor Rex Theory will know why this is so juicy to me. In this interpretation, Peter is "Summers' end," by whom the destruction of [X]ayview will be brought about. It wraps into my Razor Rex theory so perfectly.
Sure we had to do a little mental gymnastics to get there, but I have successfully found another way to incriminate this guy. :P
Seriously though, whether or not Peter is a secret villain, I think we have to at least consider the possibility that the Sphinx's prediction is still in play here.
Am I the only one who thinks they look like twins?
I was honestly going to make a whole theory™ post about this but I really can't find any evidence for Ángel having a long lost twin brother.
The only thing I have is that Stephen's dad canonically took Harriet's last name which would explain why Stephen isn't Stephen Guerra. But that's not really enough to prove anything.
But if it ever gets revealed that like Isabel and Stephen are cousins... I want it on record that I kinda sorta considered it a possibility.
From the moment I first laid eyes on the lovely Razor Rex I've had only one thought echo in my mind: "What's her deal?" I've spent a lot of time thinking and thinking and thinking some more about the nature of her secret identity, and I've decided share my notes and conclusions with the public. I have a lot to say so venture on if you dare. (For my conclusion skip to Part 3)
Part 1: Razor Rex, what's her deal?
To answer this question lets begin by collating some evidentiary exhibits. What is it that we know, or suspect to be true about her?
Exhibit - Razor Rex 0 (RR0) - Razor Rex is a sustained spirit fusion between a spectral with white spectral energy and Cherub.
Before we get to anything we have to assume true an inference that I'm almost certain is correct. Which is that Razor Rex is a sustained spirit fusion between a spectral with white spectral energy and Cherub. This is a conclusion that a lot of people have come to and has overwhelming evidence. To list all of that evidence here would only make this post longer, and since the whole premise of this post relies on RR0 being true you're either onboard with this premise or not. Still, there are several pieces of evidence which can be extrapolated from this.
We must assume that the spectral which composes Razor Rex has white spectral energy.
CH 8 PG 24 Cherub believes that a human with naturally white spectral energy is impossible. This means two things: RR0a - The spectral that makes up Razor Rex has naturally black spectral energy and RR0b - The spectral used Polaris' powers to invert their spectral energy.
RR0c Razor Rex is a mimic. She is able to copy other spirits abilities. Not unique, but it's very powerful. CH 8 PG 17
She presumably gets this ability from Cherub, given the way its used.
The following evidence is listed in no particular order:
Exhibit RR1 - Razor Rex is silly.
This shouldn't be overlooked. I know that Paranatural is a goofy comic, but not every character is goofy or silly. This might indicate something about her spectral half's identity since Cherub doesn't seem to to be a particularly goofy or silly spirit.
It shouldn't be discounted that this could be a fake persona, although that would ask the unanswerable question of "why would they chose this personality?"
It's also possible that this is a result of some other wild card third thing, like the spectral in question being a medium for a silly child-like spirit or who knows?
RR1a - She thinks that her cult is funny. She kind of has sort of a half ironic take on her whole cult. "FLEE, MY FUNNY CULTISTS." CH 8 PG 79
Exhibit RR2 - Razor Rex has poor control over her powers.
This is evidenced by when she apparently fails to kill Coach Oop CH 8 PG 58, when she has poor control over her scythe (probably a tool) CH 8 PG 59, and when she burns her hand copying the Burger house key CH 8 PG 70 (using borrowed powers from Forge?) There are probably more little examples of this that could be cited if you combed through the chapter.
Exhibit RR3 - The Spectral in Razor Rex is afraid of Fauxbia.
But the powers of Cherub, specifically her ability to negate negative emotions, squash this. From CH 8 PG 70:
In addition, she seems to be afraid in a way that indicates her relative weakness. This with RR2, further indicates that the spectral in Razor Rex is likely not very experienced.
Exhibit RR4 - The PTA is literally a PTA
This could be something, or it could be nothing. But the majority of the members of the PTA that we see are literally either parents of students (of both known Mayview Schools) or teachers/faculty members of the schools. The only exceptions are Gaige, Paige, and YC who are students invited by Davy; Agent Savage who was hired on as a house band; and Sophie who is there as a spy. Again, this could be nothing, but it would make sense if the shadow secretary of the PTA was literally a parent or a teacher.
Exhibit RR5 - Razor Rex is not a member of the Activity Consortium
She needs Agent Savage to tell her if Crush is a member of the Activity Consortium who she refers to as "ONE OF BOSS LOSER’S PAJAMA BOYS," CH 8 PG 59. She knows who Boss Leader is, she probably knows that she's a wight in disguise since Agent Savage is dismissive of Crush's implication that she is one.
It's possible she was a member at some point but not recently enough to know Crush's identity.
We also know that she isn't part of Master Guerra's dojo since she doesn't recognize Crush and thinks they're "LIKE A CULT, IT'S KIND OF SCARY." CH 8 PG 59
Exhibit RR6 - Razor Rex is hit on by Ms. Baxter.
She doesn't seem especially receptive to this (at least on a romantic level [she loves the attention]) but doesn't seem to shut her down either.
This is a very important piece of evidence because it implies to me that the spectral in Razor Rex isn't a child despite her childish personality and inexperience. I say this because I genuinely don't think that Zach would intentionally write themself into situation where an adult teacher is flirting with a minor, even if it is unknowingly. I suppose it's possible, but it just doesn't seem like something a webcomic author in this sort of online community would choose.
Exhibit RR7 - Razor Rex is female.
Razor Rex is consistently referred to using she/her pronouns and otherwise female language such as "goddess." (Although one of her titles is the "King of Corpses" CH 8 PG 39) I point this out to essentially say that it probably doesn't mean anything. The Angel that is the fusion of Ángel and Cherub is female despite Ángel seeming to have a fairly strong identity as a man.
Exhibit RR8 - Razor Rex is friendly to children but doesn't seem to be bothered with the prospect of endangering them.
She convinces Davy to let Cody backstage to the dangerous ritual with them. CH 8 PG 64
Exhibit RR9 - Razor Rex is a gamer, has some tech literacy.
Coach Oop thinks about her demanding a PSP game as tribute CH 8 PG 43. At the PTA meeting she has a Kinect Sports tournament with "A PROJECTOR SET UP AND EVERYTHING," CH 8 PG 56. She complains about her minions not being able to restart her Xbox, CH 8 PG 57, and gives her orders through a group chat. CH 8 PG 79.
Exhibit RR10 - Razor Rex can raise the dead.
The zombies and skeletons at the party were raised by her, and she is a self proclaimed "Necromancer," CH 8 PG 70 She can only raise skeletons or zombies at the moment, but it might be assumed that if she became a great wight she might be able to bring people back from the dead fully. It's hinted that that's how she coerced Oop into joining the cult, albeit being able to prevent the death of his cancer stricken daughter whose remission set the stage for his tempted face-turn. I'll even add that as RR10a - The Death Cult seems to want power over death.
Exhibit RR11 - Razor Rex wants to become a Great Wight.
She wishes to become a Great Wight to ironic results. CH 8 PG 74. However, something to consider is that this is what she did when she attempted to betray the rest of the PTA, originally her goal as part of the PTA was to just have a spooky island all to herself:
It's possible this was all a ruse for the for the purposes of tricking Davy, but there's no reason it couldn't also be her genuine desire. RR11a - Razor Rex told the PTA she wanted to have an Island all to herself in Dayview.
Exhibit RR12 - Razor Rex and Richard Spender.
This one sounds weird, but it's important for disproving (2) of my major candidates for her identity.
Razor Rex doesn't respond in any way to the mention of the Mr. Spender's name. That means she either doesn't know who he is, or knows enough about him to know that he "got the credit" for defeating the Great Unknown.
In addition Nin, who is a servant of Cherub, knows who Richard Spender is CH 4 PG 46.
Part 2: Who isn't Razor Rex?
Okay, so we know or suspect some things about her, I guess. What now? Well, let's go through some of the possible candidates for Razor Rex and see what we can find.
Penny Spender
Penny my beloved. I think this is the first candidate that pops into peoples minds, I wish it were her because I'd like her to have a bigger role in the comic, let's see what we know.
Exhibit Penny Spender 1 (PS1) - She has white spectral energy.
Presumably having started off with black and had it shifted by Ángel to nominally assist her in gathering tools, but in actuality it being a ploy to get Cherub to use her body in her ploy to become a Great Wight.
PS2 - She is a mimic.
This might seem like evidence but that's already the power that Cherub has: "The ability to receive and redistribute strength." CH 8 PG 23. Might mean something or might mean nothing. Debünked.
PS3 - She is young and inexperienced. Ángel is training her.
It would make sense that Ángel would be directed by Cherub to train the person she's working with to ascend to godhood. He also is specifically attempting to train her in her mimicry abilities, which would presumably help Razor Rex be better at her abilities. Phantommime has pink spectral energy so presumably she possessed Penny AFTER her energy was turned white by Ángel, maybe she was given Phantommime intentionally for this purpose.
PS4 - Proximity to Cherub.
She spends a lot of time with Ángel, it would make sense that she could easily swipe the bell Cherub is in.
PS5 - Age.
See RR6. Penny looked like how 12 year olds are drawn in Paranatural during the flashback in CH 7 which was 6 years ago. So it's possible she's 18 now. I still don't think that Zach would write a middle school teacher hitting on a highschooler.
PS6 - Personality.
Razor Rex is wacky, hapless, and kind of nerdy in a way. It's true that we haven't seen very much of Penny, but from what we have seen: She seems to be a grinder; she's driven to accomplish her goals and works hard (at least 12 jobs CH 8 PG 16). Razor Rex is lazy enough to not restart her own Xbox. Penny has a duplicitous side and is a consummate thief. She is spiteful towards her brother, but seems to be otherwise fairly cheerful and optimistic. She is prone to misadventure, but she doesn't seem to be subject to comedic pratfalls the way Razor Rex is. She loves theater and putting on personas for the purpose of acting. She likes Sailor Moon CH 7 PG 72, but we don't know if she has any more nerdy interests. She's described as a theater kid. Penny has been shown as moody, but she seems to be more prone to brooding vs. Razor Rex who has a "Tantrum" CH 8 PG 57
As I implied in RR1 it's entirely possible that Razor Rex's personality is an act which would work for Penny as an actor, but it doesn't make sense to me why, if one was to compose a persona to disguise oneself as as the leader of a cult why would it be THAT? I just don't see it.
PS7 - Goals
Penny's explicit goal in life is to leave Mayview and become an actor. CH 8 PG 16:
If this is all her real thoughts, why would she be leading a cult trying to reshape Mayview, trying to become a great wight?
PS8 - Richard Spender.
See RR12. Penny doesn't know where her brother is, she probably doesn't know he's a spectral given the fact that she doesn't seem to consider that as a possibility.
Why wouldn't she react when Fauxbia mentions his name?
PS9 - If she's the leader of a cult why work 12 jobs and steal every second of every day?
Razor Rex implies that she's taking more than 90% of her cult member's income. "WHAT’S NEXT—ONLY NINETY PERCENT OF YOUR INCOME AND FREE TIME PUT INTO MY WONDERFUL CHURCH?!” CH 8 PG 57.
Conclusion: I don't think it's Penny, it just doesn't fit with her character and what we know about her.
Ángel Guerra
It might seem silly but let's consider this.
AG1 - White Spectral Energy
He has black spectral energy, converted to white.
AG2 - Proximity to Cherub
He is The Angel with Cherub. His spirit fusion as seen on CH 8 PG 22 is the whole reason we have this Razor Rex theory, so maybe he did it again. Maybe he turns into The Angel and uses Polaris to reverse her into The Angel of Death. I don't know anything is possible.
AG3 - Highly skilled, serious, and serene.
Ángel has a very different personality to Razor Rex, obviously. He also is a very proficient spectral unlike Razor Rex.
AG4 - He doesn't know what's going on.
Ángel doesn't know anything, these are his thoughts. Cherub has to constantly use her powers to keep him from questioning what's going on.
Conclusion: It's not him.
Nicole Spender
Okay hear me out, this was my first guess that I had as I was reading through the end of CH 8 and I want to entertain it a little longer.
NS1 - She isn't at the PTA meeting.
Where is she? Her husband Bill is there. They're still together so what gives? She wont go to the PTA meeting?
NS2 - She might have black spectral energy.
We know of at least one instance of a mother with black spectral energy passing it on to her kid. Assuming Penny has black spectral energy, (It's fairly common CH 1 PG 59) she might have it too and passed it on to Penny like Isabel's Grandmother did for Ángel CH 7 PG 70.
NS3 - What's going on with her face? Why cant I see her eyes?
Her face is always covered. It could just be a joke about how Spender always covers his eyes the way that Stephen's family has a congenital face scar. Or it could be something, a sign something is going on? IDK what though.
NS4 - We don't really know anything about her personality, but it probably isn't that.
We just don't know, we haven't seen a lot of her, but from what we have seen she seems to be a proper high society lady. It's possible that she could be Razor Rex just because it would be, like, sort of a subversion of the usual rich trophy wife tropes but again we just don't have enough information.
NS5 - Richard Spender
See RR12 and PS8. She doesn't know where her son is, if it were her why wouldn't she react when his name is mentioned?
Conclusion: It's probably not her, the vibes are off on this one. We don't know if she's a spectral or if there's anything going on with her, it's just baseless speculation, really.
Isabel's Grandma
On the subject of Isabel's Grandma
IG1 - She had black spectral energy.
We know this because of what Ángel says in CH 7 PG 70.
IG2 - Access to Ángel.
She would be able to turn her energy's color since she would likely have access to her son.
IG3 - Probably a strong Spectral
She married Master Guerra even if they didn't stay together, she probably had some power. We also see this hand here on CH 8 PG 23
Which could be her, implying she fought the great wights with Davy Jones and other consortium members.
IG4 - Personality
She's probably an old lady and probably has the personality of an old lady. But I mean just because some one is old in this comic doesn't mean they are mature. See Starchman. See Peter Puckett. See Davy Jones. Also, old ladies can be gamers. It's not our place to judge.
Conclusion: She's either dead or Fauxbia as I've seen speculated.
Conceivably Anyone
Okay now that we've gone over all the runner-ups lets see the also-rans. We're looking for someone who is an adult with black spectral energy. Someone who isn't a member of the consortium or Master Guerra's Dojo. Someone who is silly and not competent.
Someone who might be a parent or a teacher, might be good with kids. Someone who likes video games.
It could be:
Starchman is a silly adult teacher, he went on a date the night of the PTA but got back early enough that he could have easily attended. While he's silly he's always been shown to be hyper competent. Also, it's just a vibe but I don't think Starchman will ever be involved in the supernatural stuff of this comic. Maybe his Hot Wife but then we really don't know anything about her at all.
Isabel's mom is canonically not a spectral as of the flashback in CH 7 But it's possible she became one between now and then. Although she seems to have a very different personality than Razor Rex; we really don't know anything about her.
Principal Pleezdoo is a faculty member and a little goofy. She seems like she's not in touch with the youth, however, and her personality wouldn't be in line with what we know about Razor Rex.
Lavish Price is goofy, albeit unintentionally. Her daughter's spectral energy isn't black but that doesn't automatically preclude her. She runs a crypto scheme (CH 6 PG 33) so it's likely she knows how to run a group chat. But why would she be running a crypto scheme when we know that cult members give upwards of 90% of their earnings to Razor Rex and, while we don't know exactly how long the cult has been operating, we know it's been longer than a few days.
Potentially someone who we've seen in one panel who we know nothing about. The Art Teacher? Dimitri's Sister? Those ice cream guys on CH6 PG 26? Anything would be baseless speculation at this point.
Someone we haven't even met yet. Even after everything I've written in this post there's a part of me that thinks this is still the most likely option. It's possible she is a major character that we just haven't met yet? Maybe Lisa has an older brother. Maybe Alex's mom is the fire chief and we'll get a whole 10 pages of backstory. We just don't know. Davy Jones didn't get introduced until the end of CH 5, like 7 years after the comic started.
Part 3: The 1st Character on the 1st Page of the 1st Chapter
What do we really know about Peter Puckett, eccentric father of the comic's central protagonist? Well, I'm actually going to list the things we know, but I did ask that as a rhetorical device, since I feel like we don't really know a whole lot about this guy, and that's the point I'm trying to make. Dude is a mystery that seems to be easily written off as a joke, but maybe he isn't one, maybe there's a darker side to him, maybe he's been manipulated into leading the cult trying to destroy Mayview.
Here in no particular order is a series of evidence related to Peter Puckett and how it relates to whether he could be the Spectral fused with Cherub to make the Death Goddess Razor Rex:
Exhibit Peter Puckett 1 (PP1) - Peter is silly, goofy even.
I could link to any panel Peter appears in and it would prove this statement. Razor Rex, as has been established, is very silly and goofy as well.
PP2 - Peter might have black spectral energy.
Peter's son, Max has black spectral energy, his wife June had gray spectral energy. Max might have gotten his black spectral energy from being possessed the way that Isaac got his blue and Johnny got his gray. Its also possible it was hereditary, we have an example of a parent passing black spectral energy onto their son with Ángel and his mother CH 7 PG 70. Either way, black spectral energy can be polar shifted to white to create Razor Rex as has been discussed.
PP3 - If Peter is a spectral, he was never part of the Consortium and was never formally trained.
When characters talk about June, Max's mom, they never mention her husband. On CH 7 PG 90 Spender is shocked to learn that June is related to Max. He doesn't know Peter or at the very least is surprised to learn that he married June. We can infer that if he has spectral ability he wouldn't have had it until fairly recently.
There are a few ways to become a spectral. CH 1 PG 64
It's also implied that you can be born one, or you could get fast tracked by being possessed. Knowing Peter, it's entirely possible that he got it through the citrus route Isaac mentioned above.
It's possible he got it through a near death experience, maybe in the fire which killed June, we still don't know a lot about it.
This is all to say that this lines up with the observation that Razor Rex appears to not have very good control over her powers.
PP4 - Peter has a reason to want control over death.
Let me tell you a story and let me know if it sounds plausible: A young father's beloved wife dies tragically, in the wake of the trauma he is approached by a figure promising him control over death.
PP5 - Peter's Parenting Style
Peter is a fun dad but he does seem to be a fairly permissive parent. He lets Max scooter to school on his first day. He lets Max do all sorts of dangerous Shred Eagle stunts with his friends. But he's also kind of a jerk and can be callous to his kids, CH 3 PG 2 and CH 4 PG 3:
As we know Razor Rex is friendly-ish to kids and doesn't seem bothered by putting them in danger, encouraging Davy to bring Cody to the ritual.
You might think that Peter, a man who lost his wife to a dangerous accident would be more protective of his children. It's probably just his personality, but it might make sense if he believes that he will one day have control over death.
PP6 - He is a Punk
Hear me out. Throughout the comic he's been seen wearing punk band teeshirts. This one is even called "Night Church": CH 4 PG 2:
What is the Death cult if not a literal night church? Okay I realize that's a little weak but what about this?:
He canonically goes to punk shows CH 5 PG 187:
Where he sees Agent Savage live in concert. We know that Razor Rex didn't recruit Savage through the Consortium so maybe this is how she was recruited to the cause. Agent Savage does say: “Working for free for an angry old has-been isn’t my idea of rebellion, love," CH 8 PG 59 which implies that she views the Death Cult in keeping with her punk aesthetic.
PP6a - Razor Rex is a pretty punk name. It's also alliterative like Peter Pucket. P.P. - R.R.
PP7 - Peter Gamer?
We've never seen Peter playing video games.
We do see him playing board games and losing badly at them. I'm not sure if that counts. CH 4 PG 2:
Wait what did Max say? "Tower citadel worthy of my sorcery?" What an odd thing to say...
Is this anything?
PP8 - He's nervous when he meets Davy Jones
I mean who wouldn't be. But if he is hiding his secret identity then it would be especially intimidating. CH 8 PG 1
We know from this that Davy Jones doesn't know who he is, but considers sending his minions to investigate them.
PP9 - The Plot
Is it weird to anyone else that in a comic where everyone is secretly related to everyone else that none of the (3) PTA members, the big bad guys, are directly related to the main characters? Sure Davy spent time locked away with Ed's Parents and Fauxbia might be Isabel's grandma but she doesn't know it, but these are very petty relationships. This is obviously not hard evidence, but it just makes sense to me that one of the bad guys should have a direct relationship to the main characters.
PP10 - Peter returns to Mayview with his son and daughter right before the PTA's plan pops off. Why now?
June died "A few years ago" CH 8 PG 2. But that doesn't mean I'm saying it's weird that they wouldn't leave immediately. It actually would make a lot of sense for things to settle down until a parent would eventually decide to leave the bad memories behind.
But the timing of it is coincidental, unless he chose to move in time for the PTA's big ritual. It might even explain why he would buy a corner store, if he, as Razor Rex, knows Davy's plan to drive up real estate.
PP11 - Why Him?
Cherub can transfer powers, CH 8 PG 23,
But we don't know if she can use them herself. It's possible she literally needs someone to be her patsy, but even if she doesn't, being stuck with someone who is incompetent and doesn't have ambition or a complex moral code of their own would be ideal.
Someone who knows the town, but isn't directly involved with the supernatural politics. Someone from out of town completely would be even better.
We still know very little about June and what happened to her. Maybe Cherub was involved with her death in some way. One thing we do know is that: PP11a - Cherub has communicated with Baxborough
We know that The Angel was in communication with Forge, presumably through the locket on CH 4 PG 47. Assuming that Forge is a spirit closely tied to June which is pretty commonly accepted but not proven yet, we can infer that he was probably in Baxborough with the Pucketts. That locket might have even belonged to June.
Another reason it could be him is that PP11b - It might be possible he could have some resentment towards the Consortium. We don't know a lot about June's retirement from the Consortium. It couldn't have been too harsh since she had a positive relationship with Agent Day CH 7 PG 90 but on that same sheet Mr. Spender thinks about her retirement as "hurt feelings." Maybe it was a negative split. Maybe Peter could blame the consortium for her death, we just don't know.
PP12 - Okay we've had our fun but let's be serious, how could Peter be the leader of a cult in Mayview when he's spent the last 12 years in Baxborough?
This is the line of questioning which got me to make this post, because I realized that if Razor Rex is Cherub, Razor Rex can use Doorman's Powers to go anywhere. We know that the Angel was communicating with Forge; it's entirely possible for Peter to have used Doorman's powers to travel back and forth from Baxborough to Mayview.
PP13 - Okay, wise guy, but how did Peter get through the barrier when he moved back to town?
Cherub can transfer the ability to see and hear spirits, it isn't too much of a leap then to assume that she can transfer away spectral energy itself.
This might even be why Peter doesn't know anything about the supernatural world. Cherub might be intentionally keeping him in the dark, only granting him powers when it's time to assume the form of Razor Rex. This might further explain her inexperience and clumsiness with her powers.
We see Razor Rex swap the fake Burger door key for the real one. Is it possible she can swap a fake version of Cherub's bell out for a real one?
PP14 - This Panel:
My final piece of evidence, my showstopper. CH 3 PG 2
Here we see Peter Puckett not only predict the existence of the death cult at the very start of Chapter 3, when we don't get to actually see our first death cultist until the very end of Chapter 4, a full two and a half years later; not only predict their existence but imagine them with perfect accuracy from their black robes to their animal skull masks. In Paranatural we see cutaways to people's imaginations all the time, but usually they're inaccurate to reality based on the imaginer's biases. See Penny Spender imagining her brother with a goatee on CH 8 PG 16.
In this theory it's not only possible that he's telling on himself, it's entirely possible he actually believes this since this seems like the kind of weird stuff that he as Razor Rex would make her funny cultists do.
Conclusion:
To quote Jimmy Neutron quoting Sherlock Holmes: "When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."
Do I really think that Max's Dad is a necromancer pretending to be a wight?
Yes.
But I'm not 100% convinced. There are still some things I'm unable to answer, like why Razor Rex's body appears to be a black candle. Or what exactly the function of her scythe is. I think going through things piece by piece like this, while arduous, still helped generate some interesting data and things to consider which I wouldn't have otherwise thought about as closely. I'm sure I missed something, and I think I need to do a proper reread before the next chapter starts.
