Now we know he is still religious as MoW as well, he still believes in the God-Emperor and he still wants to serve him. But he's paid his debt to the Golden Throne. He now serves RT. What does this mean? I think in here it's good to think about how only Dogmatic and Iconoclast Rogue Trader can get his romance. Not heretic. Which means if you manage to romance him, you either value the imperium and the god emperor or you value humanity. Or a mixture of both. So it stands to reason that you serve humanity or the imperium in his eyes. Those are important shared values that makes his romance possible. So, in this, he found a way to serve the God-Emperor and/or Humanity with someone he finds worthy and reminds him of his own worth as a person rather than a tool. ("no one ever said that to me before, thank you", "i didn't know what happiness was until i held you", "you showed me how the world cluld be like when my heart beats in unison with another")
