Rewriting the World

I could come apart at his touch.

He gave me the world once.

I am just a girl.

I look at this girl in the mirror, and I realize I will never be enough for her.

To the boy who stole my heart too soon.

"I say "I'm okay" the way I say the sky is blue.

"I wish someone had told me what life was like before I started it. I wouldn't have come along for the ride if so.

They say I am a blank canvas.

You should hate me. You have every single right to hate me, and yet you still tell me you love me "more than anything." It's not fair. My first love. My first kiss. My first everything in between. I prayed to God that you would never break up with me, that I needed you, and yet here we are. With your heart breaking between my lips every time they move. Every time my tongue darts and licks the salty tears running from selfish eyes. The distance was too hard. I want to believe that. That's what I tell you, every day since. Every day since I crushed everything we had. Yet I'm selfish. I want to go back to you. Go back to us. Yet I'm the one who broke us. I'm the one who broke you. I'm the one who ruined everything. But it hurts. I know you dont believe me. But every ounce of it hurts. I'm breaking. You're breaking. And I'm selfish. Because the distance was too hard. Because 400 miles was too hard. BECAUSE THE DISTANCE WAS TOO HARD.
