According to The Sun, the upcoming BBC/MGM+ series Legacy of Spies, an adaptation of John le Carré’s novels, will feature Joe Alwyn in a major role alongside Hugh Laurie.

Matthew Macfadyen, who Joe recently worked with on Seance on a Wet Afternoon, is also set to star as one of the leads. While the main cast reportedly began filming back in April, Hugh Laurie was only confirmed last week, and actors like Dan Stevens (who is set to play Bill Haydon) haven't even started shooting yet. Given that the timeline of the book splits between two different eras, it’s highly likely Joe will be part of the present-day storyline, which explains why his casting is only surfacing now.

Obviously, The Sun isn’t the most reliable source, so we’re better off waiting for an official announcement from the BBC, hopefully sometime over the coming weeks.
