thoughts on streaming...
part two of my thoughts on things at the moment.
Streaming...
Well, its had its ups and downs, but it has been worth the journey I took into daily streaming. However I feel as if the wind may be changing so to speak. Recently I've become increasingly frustrated at the fact that I haven't really made any progress. Looking back on it, I've actually regressed in some ways over the past two and a half years. That's where mentally I fall down with it and I feel unhappy.
No one is entitled to viewers, of course. But I've put a lot of effort into making my stream look nice, improve my mood, interact with others a bit more amongst other things. But its just not come off for me. I've even tried some of the networking things lately. I've tried singleplayer content, multiplayer content, shows, random streams, new games, old games. It just feels like nothing has worked for me. I'm wondering whether to seek out assistance from people who know how to network properly, leave it as it is, or just walk away. Ultimately at the end of the day I don't think I'm the right "fit" for what a Twitch viewer wants to see. I'm not interesting enough, or charasmatic enough, or really good at a game to make it worthwhile. I've started to mentally reach a point of "what's the point" anymore towards anything, which probably doesn't help matters.
I am about ready to call it quits and do something else, likely when I pick up work. It'd be the ideal ending point really. There would be no time to contemplate what I'd lost as I'd be busy with other things. Its just probably taken me several years to really see it. Being in content creation for six and a half years does give you some perspective at least.
I've felt like I've reached my peak also, and now we're past that and I'm still here. It almost feels like I should have gone six months ago or so. But I still find myself here, unable to change what I do through fear of what might happen.
The funny thing is, I enjoy the stream the most when I'm actually there, and I forget about all this trivial stuff around it while I'm focused on a game or talking about something I feel passionate about. But obviously other people do not share this view or I would have kept some of my viewers or gotten new ones. I can at least say I've given it my best shot and I always tried my hardest to make things as good as they can be.
Whatever happens now, my goal is really just to finish up existing projects and take it from there. Whether that is to call it a day, or try something radically different. Overall I'm mentally a lot happier than when I began back in 2015, and I've met some awesome people through it, that alone has to be a good reason for doing it. But all things have their time I feel.
