“ Ah, Dorian, i’d hope to borrow your time– if you’re not otherwise occupied, that is. ” Alhannon struggles to catch up to the younger man, his knee troubling him from his recent trek out with the Inquisitor, not that he begrudged the time away from Skyhold, but he was not a young thing anymore, and he’d already seen his share of battle.

he slows his pace some once he’d made it to the mage’s side. “i’ve a decent vintage won from varric at wicked grace, and some archaic inscriptions i think you might have an interest in.” a scarred brow raises, the barest hint of a smile pulling at his mouth & making the scar on his cheek pull. “ but of course, if you’re too busy, i’m sure i could seek assistance elsewhere–. ”

he had spent the past thirty minutes chasing off after the snake that decided to scale the rotunda,     before ultimately coiling around the poles and refusing to go any further.     he was rounding back to his little corner of the library after managing to capture her,     the snake moving up to his shoulders when he heard his name,    turning slightly to face the other.      “      of course.     i’m not particularly busy,     unless you count snake wrangling as being busy.      but i suppose i just accomplished that task.     ”

dorian’s eyes lifted up from his glass as they spoke,     confused by the sad smile forming across his features.      adlan was more of chaos and mayhem,    more                        carefree.      dorian couldn’t think of a time he had seen any other expression from them besides mischief.       dorian felt his expression drop,     eyes returning to look into the wine in his glass,      swirling it slightly in his hands.       “      yes,     but your mother is right here.     ”       he sighed,     setting the glass on the table.
