Lucinda Beaumont is TWENTY SEVEN years old. They work in Retina Roots as a Physical Anthropologist. In a past life, she was Atropos which now manifests in clairvoyance, death touch and the ability to change a death. Some say they look like Natalie Dormer, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE, but many more are available.

Lucinda’s birth was an exciting moment for her parents. Though her pale yellow eyes caused a bit of concern, they were instantly put at ease when they changed to blue shortly after bringing her home from the hospital. Unfortunately, their new found peace was wouldn’t last for very long. Lucinda had a very quiet personality. She rarely made noise or smiled, and her parents began to believe that something may be wrong with her. They took her to several doctors who examined her for different things, though they all concluded that she was perfectly healthy. She grew up normal, learning things at the age she was suppose too, and even speaking to her parents when she learned to talk. When she turned three, her parents began to accept her personality, assuming that she was just the quiet type. It wasn’t until her mother was pregnant again that Lucinda began to change. In a way, Lucinda seemed more excited about the child than her mother was which her mother found a bit odd, but at the same time she was glad to see her daughter so happy. Her mother did found it a bit odd though that Lucinda would constantly refer to the baby as her sister, often saying things like “I can’t wait to see her!” or “What are you going to name her?” It wasn’t long before it was confirmed that they were indeed having another daughter. Lucinda’s sister was born shortly after she turned four. Like her, her sister was also born with pale yellow eyes. With the arrival of her sister, who was given the name Coraline, Lucinda finally had a reason to be happy. Lucinda spent a lot of time with her new sister. Despite their age difference, she seemed determined to be the best big sister she could be. Though she was considerably happier now, she still couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was missing. There was a void she felt, but no matter what she did, nothing seemed to make it better. It wasn’t until she was turned five that she realized what was missing and with the arrival of her second and final sister, Delancy, Lucinda finally felt complete. Their parents didn’t notice there was something off about the girls until Lucinda was thirteen. Lucinda was the first of the three to realize that the three of them were different, having come to terms with the visions she’s had long before her sisters. The infamous bird incident was when her parents finally realized there was something wrong with them.Though Delancy claimed Lucinda killed it by accident, what they didn’t know was that Lucinda made it happen just by saying it. With the bird in her hands, Lucinda said that it would fly into a tree and die, and shortly after speaking those words the bird did just that. While her sisters claimed it was a freak accident, Lucinda had a sinking feeling it was anything but that. After witnessing the bird come back to life, and after hearing her parents concerns, she decided not to tell anyone about what she could possibly do. As the year went on, Lucinda began to show more an interest in death. When she wasn’t around her sisters, she began to realize that the visions she had only showed her when someone was going to die and how it would happen. Lucinda could also sense when someones was close to dying.The bird incident was also always on her mind. She had always been curious to see if she could do something like that again, but she resisted the temptation of trying until she went off to college, where she studying forensic science. In the privacy of her dorm room, she would bring back animals whom she sensed were dying and tried to see if they would die in the manner she choose. After trying it several times, she discovered that as long as she was touching the animal and spoke the words out loud, it would die the way she said. When the realization of what she could do finally settled in, she promised herself that she would never use it. Unfortunately, that was easier said than done. After finishing school, Lucinda’s life seemed to be looking up. Her visions of death and how people died allowed her to get a job as a Physical Anthropologist, and she was dating a man whom she was certain she would marry. Having gained more control over the visions she saw, she prevented herself from seeing his death, wanting to enjoy her time with him without the looming thought of when he was to die. Her happiness lasted up until she realized that he was cheating on her. When the discovery was made, Lucinda lost it. She let her anger get the better of her, and it wasn’t until he was leaving her apartment that she made the biggest mistake of her life. Grabbing his hand before he walked out, she screamed in his face that he would be hit by a car. Lucinda didn’t realize what she had done, until he walked out and she heard the sound of screeching tires, followed by a crash. The shock of what had happened finally set in, and all she could do was sit on her couch and stare at the wall in front of her. Knowing that the police would come eventually, she decided to just accept her fate, ready to face the consequence. It seemed that fate had other plans though. Instead of the police, two agents from Project Restoration came to her with the promise of offering her a clean slate and a chance to be with people like her. Though she was wary about the idea, she eventually decided to go after she was told they could help her find a job and that her sisters would also be going.

Taryn Manning is SEVENTEEN years old. They work in Retina Roots as a Student. In a past life, she was Thor which now manifests in electrokinesis, weather manipulation, and super strength. Some say they look like Jacqueline Emerson, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Although she was too old to have been one of Conrad's bastards, Taryn remembered her mother's brief flings with the head of the biker gang “Valkyries” and the little brother she got out of it. He may not have stuck around long enough to even meet her brother, but he left a lasting impression on the girl for the couple months he was in her life. He'd told her bedtime stories and played pretend with her and was actually kind to her mother. It broke her heart a little when he left, but she couldn't really find it in herself to blame him either. From then on, gifts and money would show up for her brother and herself every so often. Those packages were always the highlight of her otherwise mediocre life. For the next seven years, Taryn fantasized about that kind man coming back to rescue her and her brother from their life which had gone very downhill before long. At twelve, her mother was diagnosed with cancer and even with the money Conrad sent, it was clear they'd never be able to afford to get her well. By the time she was fifteen, the doctor's finally told Taryn that no amount of chemotherapy could have helped her mother whose particular brand of lung cancer had very, very few survivors. Taryn was too young to take care of her now five year old brother and despite her insistence otherwise, the pair ended up in separate foster homes. Although she never knew where the packages from Conrad had been coming from, she was certain she could track the man down and set her mind to doing so. It took nearly two years, during which she was swapped through numerous foster homes, but she finally tracked the man down thanks to a few hints left by the agents of Project Restoration, who'd been keeping tabs on her ever since she was born with eyes that burned like lightning. She was only seventeen and supposed to be with this one last family until she'd be released in the world. However, Taryn had the address of the hospital where Conrad had been transferred after his accident and she wasn't about to wait a moment longer. She ran away from “home” and hitchhiked her way across the country toward California and a town called Retina Roots. Taryn only hoped Conrad would be willing to get her brother out of foster care.

Conrad "Chord" Adal is THIRTY ONE years old. They work in Retina Roots as a Bar Owner. In a past life, he was Odin which now manifests in emotional manipulation, affinity to ravens and wolves, astral projection, persuasive voice, necromancy and blessings and curses. Some say they look like Charlie Hunnam, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Unlike many of the restoration children, Chord was born with only one eye different, clouded over and seemingly blind. It cleared up only a few short hours after his birth leaving doctors baffled but grateful. His parents, equally grateful, brought home their little bundle of joy, blissfully unaware of the strife they were bringing into their home. It didn't take long at all for their fighting to begin, nor did it take long for the fighting to lead to blows and soon after divorce. When asked, after what had been the source of their contention, neither could really put a finger on it, just knowing the other had made them so angry. Of course, for as much contention as Chord was capable of inspiring, he could also seem to win people over just as easily. The only time he ever really struggled with approval of those around him was when he went through a very brief poetic phase. The boy was mocked for being so girly and emotional causing him to put all thoughts of poetry aside. He would write more later in life but never shared these works, feeling shame over them. He got involved in all the things kids shouldn't, drugs and alcohol and gangs, but never seemed to face any real punishment for his illegal activities. By the time he was legally driving, he'd fallen in with a biker gang and before he'd turned twenty-one, he had taken over entirely. He called his crew the Valkyries, mostly for their preference towards that particular model of motorcycle. His crew were responsible for a lot of crime and though some of them were caught and even did time, the police could never manage to get Chord himself. He liked it that way and especially enjoyed just how many women he ended up bedding thanks to the reputation he'd earned. Those dalliances occasionally led to children which Chord took some small measure of pride in. Not that he had any physical involvement with the various children, but he always made sure to send gifts and money their way. Really, Chord would have happily continued his life of crime and motorcycles for the rest of his days, but, of course, it didn't last. There was an “accident”; another gang had been involved and several large vehicles. Most of his crew ended up dead and though most of Chord's injuries were relatively minor, he did end up blind in one eye. The “accident” also caught the attention of the agents of Project Restoration who'd been watching him for several years. They took the opportunity to get Chord transferred to the hospital in Retina Roots, insisting they had a fantastic program for the blind. Though he was only half blind, they insisted he could benefit greatly from their help. They also made it pretty clear that were he to refuse their generous offer, he'd find himself finally facing legal charges and they had quite the rap sheet. So, with what remained of the funds from his life of crime and little else, Chord moved to Retina Roots to begin a new life.

Tyler Kyle is TWENTY FIVE years old. They work in Retina Roots as an Agent. This is their first life. Some say they look like Matt McGorry, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Unlike many of the agents of Project Restoration, Tyler could hardly remember a time in his life when he was unaware of the restoration children. His parents, founding members of the Project had taught their son to be wary of these “gifted” individuals and groomed him for agency from an early age. For the last fifteen years, he lived among them, attended their schools and blended in. Though he was always on his guard, Tyler was also very good at his job even before he became an agent. He smiled and played nice and fooled many of the restoration children into believing he might just be one of them. At nineteen, Tyler was officially inducted into the project, given a badge and more official assignments. His cover was a job with the local sheriff, working in law enforcement coming quite naturally. Deputy Kyle quickly became one of the more likeable police officers in Retina Roots and though he never manifested powers like many of the friends he'd grown up with, none ever suspected he was actually an agent in disguise. Although he would never admit it to his parents or supervisors in the Project, Tyler long ago began to question the purpose of Project Restoration. Having grown so close to so many of the restoration children, he'd begun to see them as no different from any other human beings. After all, humans without powers had wrought devastation to others. Many of these “gifted” individuals seemed to want nothing more than to live lives as normal as possible despite their powers. As the lines blurred, Tyler continued to report back on those around him, but he struggled with the guilt and apprehension around what would eventually happen should the agency determine the restoration children to be too great a threat.

Daniel Clay is THIRTY THREE years old. They work in Retina Roots as an Agent. This is their first life. Some say they look like Jensen Ackles, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Daniel was five years old when he had his first encounter with one of the “restoration children”. His kid brother was born with eyes entirely black. His parents didn't know what to think and sought the best medical professionals, but Daniel knew, just knew his brother was something evil. It wasn't long before the boy's fears were proven. Both his parents grew deathly ill and passed within a year of his brother's birth and the same fate fell to any who took them in. Much as he hated his brother for the curse the boy had brought on them, his brother was also all he had left in the world and so, he defended the boy as best he could and fought to keep them together. It wasn't until Daniel was seventeen when he and his brother were finally taken in by the agents of Project Restoration. Though he protested at first, the agents insisted it was for the best to keep Daniel's brother locked away, where he couldn't hurt anyone. Daniel, on the other hand, was trained. The boy was taught how to handle countless weapons as well as rained in numerous forms of martial arts. By the time he was nineteen, he was given his badge and made an agent. Daniel devoted his life to Project Restoration under the promise that they were doing everything they could to help the restoration children live normal lives, that eventually, they'd be able to fix his brother. However, as the years passed, he began to have his doubts. It'd been so long since he'd even seen his brother and then, he was reassigned from the town where his brother was kept to a place called Retina Roots. It was the first time, since becoming an agent, that Daniel hesitated. Ultimately, however, he took the assignment, but his unwavering loyalty to Project Restoration was now shaken.

Yukimura Aiko (幸村 愛子) is EIGHTEEN years old. They work in Retina Roots as a Student. In a past life, she was Kisshōten which now manifests in happiness, fertility, and good fortune. Some say they look like Arden Cho, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

One of the first restoration children found by Dr. Bahuguna, Aiko was born with eyes as blue as the sky and a smile that never faded. Her mother, who’d suffered chronic depression and infertility had been told by doctors that she would never be able to get pregnant in the first place so, when she conceived Aiko, the baby was dubbed a miracle. Following her birth, her mother conceived again and again and again, granting Aiko four younger siblings, the last two being born after her mother had her tubes tied. It was actually her twin siblings, born with eyes completely white despite perfect vision, that had Dr. Bahugana at her door step, but upon hearing the story of the Yukimura’s miracle baby, the doctor seemed far more interested in her than her siblings. He provided her family with financial compensation they were all too happy to accept in order to track Aiko and her siblings’ development and when it came time for her to go off to college, he made sure the university where he was teaching at in Retina Roots offered her a full ride.

Raymond Harris is FORTY TWO years old. They work in Retina Roots as an Agent. In a past life, he was Shango which now manifests in storm, lighting, thunder and rain control. Some say they look like Idris Elba, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

When Raymond was born, his eyes glowed gold and black for the first year of his life. Although incredibly unusual, there was nothing else about the boy that seemed out of the ordinary so it was easily forgotten when they finally turned brown. He lived a happy enough childhood and did well in school. Upon completing high school, he enlisted in the Army Reserve while working through college with a goal of eventually joining the CIA or FBI. Ultimately, it was the FBI that would have him once he’d completed his degree and his service in the Reserve. The FBI not only gave Raymond the exciting and fulfilling career he’d always wanted, but also his wife, another agent by the name of Delilah Moore. Though it took some work on his part to get her attention away from their work long enough to fall for him, Raymond was nothing if not persistent. The fact that he had charm and charisma in spades didn’t hurt things either. After a year of dating, the two married and Raymond couldn’t have possibly been happier. Of course, their bliss was not to last. Raymond was in the process of apprehending a suspected drug ring leader when things got ugly. He and his team were riddled with bullets and should have all died. All the others did, but then so did the suspect and all of his men, struck by lightning when a sudden storm broke out of nowhere. Each and every one of the gang were struck and, though Raymond was struck as well, he was the only one to walk away from the scene. It wasn’t long before Raymond was being debriefed by agents from Project Restoration and he (and thankfully his wife) were shipped off to Retina Roots.

Fianna “Fia” Yates is TWENTY EIGHT years old. They work in Retina Roots as a Teacher. In a past life, she was Longmu which now manifests in animal-speaking, and summoning spiritual dragons. Some say they look like Emilia Clarke, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

While many children decided early on that they wanted to be doctors or police officers and sometimes, they even end up growing into those dreams, Fianna knew from the time she was in preschool that she wanted to work with snakes and lizards. Unlike most girls her age, she was just fascinated by them and to the surprise of those around her, she seemed to find them, regardless of where she went. It was almost as if she could attract the scaly creatures to her. She would even have conversations with her scaly friends, though it didn’t take Fia long to realize that others couldn’t hear and understand them as she did. By the time she was 23, Fianna had earned two PhD’s from Cornell University, one in veterinary medicine and one in zoology and wildlife conservation. She had been the valedictorian of both programs and had her pick of job placement. She ended up working on specials that aired on Animal Planet, Discovery and pitched a reptile special to Disneynature. However, as much an expert in her field as she was, the demand for more of the “cute” animals and sensasionalization of the “scary” animals eventually got to her. Finding out that some of her footage had been used (without her knowledge or consent) in a special about “man eating snakes” was the last straw. Although it couldn’t be proven to have been her and anyone who witnessed the “attack” had their silence bought by Project Restoration, both the agents and Fianna knew who was to blame for the dragons that had burned the executive producer’s office to the ground. The agents gave her the choice to come to Retina Roots where she’d be able to teach zoology at their university and consult for the nearby zoos or find herself in prison for arson. Although she could have tested her luck with the legal system, the promise of “people like her” had Fianna packing, ready to move to a town she’d never heard of run by a mysterious government agency she could find no evidence of, skeptical but also hopeful.

Fujimo Hotaru (藤本 蛍) is TWENTY FIVE years old. They work in Retina Roots as a Martial Arts Instructor. In a past life, she was Konohanasakuya-hime which now manifests inseduction and magma control. Some say they look like Rila Fukushima, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Hotaru was born with eyes that began pink and, by the end of her first night, burned red like lava. Branded a demon, her parents did what it took to make her disappear. In a back alley deal with human traffickers, they sold their baby and tried never to think again of the evil they’d birthed. While her parents were able to wash their hands of her, however, Hotaru’s troubles had only just begun. It was discovered early on that Hotaru had a certain knack for winning people over. Long before even the scum who had bought Hotaru would have started her into sex work, they had her prepped and ready for clients who “liked ‘em” young. She was shipped overseas and it didn’t take long before she’d become the most popular of their girls, drawing far more attention than they realized. It was that very attention that ultimately led to the entire ring being shut down and all of the girls being left either in foster care or worse, being charged for their sex crimes, as often happens to young women exploited in such ways. Fortunate for Hotaru, she fell in the first category, still a child she was put into foster care. Although the foster care system was not particularly kind to her and many of her foster parents used her in much the same way, it was a cakewalk compared to the life she’d lived in the prostitution ring. When she finally aged out of the system, Hotaru wanted to assure she would never be used against her will again and spent all of her free time learning and mastering several forms of martial arts, both armed and unarmed. Hotaru eventually decided to open a school of her own, but didn’t wish to take away from her current teachers’ client base. She looked in nearby towns and found Retina Roots lacked such a school, despite the high demand for such training by the numerous agents living there. Because of her particular talents, Project Restoration encouraged her to open up her school, offering her a better price than she could have found anywhere else and so, mind made up, she headed to Retina Roots.

Taj Bahuguna is THIRTY FOUR years old. They work in Retina Roots as an Agent/Geneticist. In a past life, he was Bhaga which now manifests in good fortune, persuasive voiceandemotional manipulation. Some say they look like Sendhil Ramamurthy, but they don’t see it. Unfortunately, they are TAKEN, but many more are available.

Although Taj never recognized himself as one of the restoration children, his twin siblings’ powers were quite obvious. Those same powers ultimately led to both their deaths, leading Taj to an obsession with understanding the source of their gifts and others like them. He studied genetics and worked in his free time tracking down people who’d been born with different colored eyes and later demonstrated impossible powers. He was met with skepticism and ridicule from most he shared his theories with and so he learned early on the need for discretion. Taj created for himself a second identity, a persona who would meet with potential gifted individuals, who sought them out online and in dark of night. Meanwhile, his professional persona taught genetics and did research for Harvard. He was well respected and praised as one of the most brilliant in his field. In addition to his professional success, several well placed investments had turned the small wealth he’d inherited from his parents into a small fortune. Much of said fortune was further invested but he also used it to fund his search for those with powers. Taj conducted countless tests on the gifted and though he has yet to find a genetic source for their powers, he remains convinced that there is one. Although it was entirely unethical, Taj found ways of convincing the gifted individuals he would find of connecting, often setting them up to form relationships. When those relationships led to pregnancies, he would show back up and conduct similar tests on the children, whether born with unusual eyes or not. This double life ultimately caught the attention of the agents at Project Restoration who offered to work with the doctor, giving him a position at the university in their most populous town of restoration children. They’d allow him access to their files on the subjects they relocated to Retina Roots, as well as their other towns, and he would be able to work directly with them in figuring out the source of the powers. They’d even include a bonus if he could develop any means of controlling or suppressing their powers altogether.

Oliver “Oli” Preston looks TWENTY ONE, but is actually TWO HUNDRED AND TWO years old. In a past life, he was Huehuecoyotl which now manifests in youth, shape-shifting, innate musical talent and infectious laughter. Some say they look like Evan Peters, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Born in the early 1800’s, Oliver is one of the first restoration children on record. Oliver lived through the Civil War and both world wars, through the darkest hours in this country’s history as well as some of the brightest and, though seeing so much history and watching so many friends and loved ones die might have left some bitter, Oliver only became more amused. He caught on pretty early to the fact that he wasn’t aging and used it to his advantage, investing well over the years so as to amass a sizable wealth. He kept on the move so as not to attract too much suspicion and paid off doctors to keep his blood line alive, a new Oliver Preston being born every twenty or so years. He probably could have continued on like that forever if he really wanted to. However, in the last couple decades, Oliver had noticed more and more being born with strange eyes (as his mother had often told him he was) and more and more manifesting unusual powers. He watched as Project Restoration was born in the shadows to track these “restoration children” as they were now being called. It probably would have been safer to keep his distance, but curiosity got the better of Oliver and so, he packed up his things and headed off with his latest faked credentials (as Oliver Preston the seventh) to Retina Roots.

Melissa Mclaughlin is TWENTY EIGHT years old. They work in Retina Roots as an Agent. This is their first life. Some say they look like Meagan Tandy, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Melissa was never exactly what any parent would want for their child. In school, she was always getting into fights and before long, she’d gotten involved in a gang. She was rough and tumble all the way. She spent most of her free time on the streets, learning the things no child should there. She could handle dozens of different guns before she reached adulthood and had pretty incredible aim right off the bat. At just nineteen years old, with a rap sheet a mile long, she got involved in a turf war that ultimately let to her being hospitalized, just shy of death. That was the wake up call Melissa needed to go straight. Well, that and the Project Restoration agent who came to interrogate her over what she saw (which had ultimately turned out to be nothing) of the restoration child that had fueled the fight. All their questions got her interested and for the next several years, she did everything she could to learn about this secretive government organization. Eventually, she found her in and, though the rules are a little too strict for her liking, Melissa is devoted enough to the cause. Knowing first hand the sort of damage one of these “restoration children” could do all while looking completely human, she was glad to be put in position of prison guard over the lot of them. Zhang Yumei (張 雨 美) is TWENTY TWO years old. They work in Retina Roots as a Student. In a past life, she was Fei Lian which now manifests in air bending, increased speed, fire breath, and scales. Some say they look like Chloe Bennet, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Yumei was born to a very traditional Chinese father and an American mother who’d come to China to teach English, she spent her early years in China before moving to America when she was seven. The adjustment was a challenge for her and she struggled to make friends. That was, however, until she went out for sports. Yumei soon found she could outrun every child in her age bracket for each sport she play. Although she excelled in every sport, it wasn’t until she reached high school and discovered track, that she was truly in heaven. There was nothing more satisfying than just letting loose and running as fast as she could. Before long, Yumei was earning medals both locally and nationally and on her way to compete in the Olympics. Having already broken plenty of records, that seemed the only natural step, after all. However, all her dreams of competing were dashed when a fight broke out among her teammates. While they were regularly screened for any sorts of performance enhancing drugs, her teammates still believed Yumei had to be cheating. Yumei had been accused of cheating before and had always let it roll off her shoulders, but for some reason, this time, she just couldn’t let it pass. She turned on the other girls and spat fire… literally. It wasn’t long before agents from Project Restoration came to collect Yumei, telling her that she would be going to a safe place for people like her.

Delilah Harris is FORTY EIGHT years old. They work in Retina Roots as an Agent. This is their first life. Some say they look like Viola Davis, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Delilah was born to a poor, single mother and never knew her father. She had younger and older siblings, all from different absent fathers and her large extended family all seemed to fit that mold. In her family, children were lucky if they managed to graduate high school without getting arrested, getting pregnant or otherwise dropping out. None of her family, even the distant cousins had ever gone to college. And yet, Delilah was nothing like her family. She was driven even from a young age. She was determined to be the change she wanted to see in the world – whether that world was her family or a much larger picture. She was the first in her family to go into law enforcement, getting her first job as a police officer at eighteen, just after completing high school salutatorian of her class. She served on the police force while working through college, earning her bachelor’s in jurisprudence by twenty-two, and, when she turned twenty-three, she applied to join the FBI with glowing recommendations. Delilah was a model agent, earning the FBI Medal of Valor within her first couple years. Delilah was always going above and beyond in the line of duty. The force was her entire life, the only distraction being the man who she would eventually marry, another FBI agent by the name of Raymond Harris. Now with a partner who shared her passion, Delilah had everything she’d ever wanted. That all changed when her husband manifested powers that ultimately led to his leaving the FBI. When the agents of Project Restoration sought to relocate her husband to one of their special towns, Delilah made a choice as well. She left the force and joined Project Restoration. Her husband became another assignment and though she knew the heads of the project may not have had the best of intentions towards the restoration children, at least as one of them, she had the best chance of protecting him when it all came crashing down.

Jason Reese is THIRTY FIVE years old. They work in Retina Roots as an Agent. This is their first life. Some say they look like Michael Ealy, but they don’t see it. Fortunately, they are AVAILABLE.

Jason had always wanted to be a cop, even as a small boy hearing stories about his father who’d been killed in the line of duty just a month before he was born. He studied hard and – despite being dyslexic – he ended up achieving that dream. Of course, it turned out that police work really wasn’t all he’d dreamed it would be. Between others on the force who were the brutal sort of cops who give the rest of them a bad name and being stuck, all too often doing nothing more than making traffic stops, it was rare that he ever felt like he was actually making the sort of difference his father had. Still, he would occasionally end up doing more important and exciting work. It was one such day when Jason had his first encounter with one of the restoration children. This particular one was actually a child, but no less dangerous and her uncontrolled powers ended up killing the rest of her family, leaving them burned beyond recognition. Although none of the other cops wanted to get anywhere near the scared little girl, insisting she was some sort of a monster, that they should call for a sniper, Jason refused to back down. He approached the child, going into the home that reeked of burnt flesh and managed to calm her down, convince her that everything would be alright and bring her out to safety. The agents of Project Restoration, who’d been watching the girl ever since her birth, commended Jason on his bravery and offered him a position as one of their agents. Taking the offer, he was reassigned to Retina Roots where he now serves, protecting the people, both human and restoration children.

Miguel was just an average kid who was more interested in trying out for the next sports team than much else. He had plenty of friends and was pretty popular but by no means Homecoming King. He got decent enough grades, although math was always a struggle and had never really had any problems at home. He’d experimented with a little pot and tried beer a couple times but that was probably the most adventurous trouble he’d ever gotten into. And, even though he’d been born with eyes that verged on nuclear green, they’d cleared up in a couple days, turning dark like his parents, so it’d never really been a concern. That all changed one night while on the lacrosse field. Miguel’s team was going up against their strongest rivals and tensions were already high. Then, either in an effort to further goad them or out of genuine hatred, one of the players from the other team shot a slur Miguel’s way and something snapped. When he came to, men in suits were escorting him away from the field as paramedics were carrying away the other boy’s motionless body on a stretcher. Miguel’s parents were given the choice to come with him to Retina Roots and ultimately ended up split as a result. His father wanted nothing to do with the “demon” his son had transformed into on the field, while his mother refused to believe that her son was beyond hope.
