On Misty’s age, since I always see confusion about it.

In the anime she’s 10 years old, the same age as Ash. Her age is only ever stated once: in the Japanese version of the third episode, upon waking up with Caterpie in front of her face she cries out “This is absolutely the worst morning I’ve had in my 10 years of life”. Her line was changed in the dub for whatever reason, so her age is never mentioned at all.

I’ve been told that she was stated to be 12 in some western merchandise, but considering it wasn’t all that uncommon for early western merchandise to have mistakes (for instance, on the back cover of Tracey West’s first novelization of the anime Ash was apparently said to be 11) I wouldn’t consider those canon over the anime.

The second picture in the photoset is a scan from an official anime guidebook, stating that she is 10.

She is 12 in Toshihiro Ono’s manga “Pokémon Dengeki Pikachu”/”The Electric Tale of Pikachu”, but the manga was only based on the anime (not the other way around) and changed the story and the characters quite a bit, so it’s basically an entirely separate canon.

(Though, if I recall, it was said you get your Pokemon in the April you are 10 and that Ash’s birthday is in May so he would’ve been 11 not too long after so the novelization wouldn’t have been too far off? I could be remembering wrong however)

(I think the “canon-ness” of that is debatable though— it’s derived from Takeshi Shudo’s novelizations which were never published outside of Japan, so I’d be surprised if they were taken into accounts for the ones written by West. Also apparently it’s only the back cover that said 11 while the novel itself said 10.)
