Grace stared down at the Xeonite bubble that had been brought in, but it was not uncommon for Rocky or their scientists to bring items into his biodome protective bubbles given the fact they themselves would not survive his current atmosphere but... living things was new.
His blue eyes was transfixed as Opal, the lead scientist of human biology, opened it up and what he had thought (and hoped) was a cat... was a small, human baby.
His jaw dropped in astonishment at the little thing when they stopped.
Not sure if it was a boy or girl, but it was a pale little one, with curly blond hair and pink little fingers and toes. They were in a basic dress with a padded lower end, so diapered at least. Their eyes were closed, but their expression was crunched up. Size wise, they looked to be about 4 months old.
"What.... is this?" Grace just about managed, already reaching into the bubble and oh... they were warm and so soft. He had almost forgotten what human touch felt like. He couldn't help it, brining it to his chest and ran a hand through the baby's hair.
"Eridian scientists have worked out full-human cloning, to give Grace the comfort of human touch that is safe." Opal said.
"Yes. We have also located two other diverse genetic chains that have been grown and nurtured to viable embryos for future cloning." There was an element of pride in the scientists voice. "What does Grace think? Question."
Grace found himself rocking the little one, feeling it--him wiggle in their sleep. They cloned him. As in, made a baby of him for him. Honestly, he could see exactly why they thought this was a good idea and he... really wasn't sure just yet. but this little one was warm... and could feel the soft breathing against his neck. Alive.
"You have found a way to feed the baby? I am not capable of that myself." Grace asked because that was a very important question. He was a tit-less guy here. Nothing was coming out of his nips.
"Yes. We made human-Pebble formular, based on data retrieved from the Earth portable thinking machine. We have equipment to recycle and clean and ensure the little Grace has means to survive. Grace Pebble was removed from the grow tank seven hours ago, but grown longer than traditional human Pebble due to the natural restrictions the human uterus will allow within a human body. The Grace Pebble is more developed and safer for Eridians to transport here."
Grace closed his eyes, rocking the little one as he wiggled and seemed to wake up with a grumble.
"You're going to need a name," Grace whispered down to the baby. "but that can come later." A little hand reached up, catching his glasses. "Thank you.... i don't know how i feel about the baby just yet but... Thank you." seemed the polite thing to do in this whole weird situation, even if he really wasn't sure about the ethical side of this.
"Rocky will come later. Rocky and Adrian very excited about the human Pebbles." Opal said, "They were not sure if human pebble will react poorly with too many around them. Human Pebble very loud when born. But cries are good; their lungs work well."
"I guess I'll find that out later." Grace chuckled.
tbh, this is mostly a one-shot but let me know if ya want more of this or nor. I've not written for this fandom before so.
