ᶠᵒʳ ⁿᵒʷ ⁱ'ˡˡ ˢᵉᵉ ʸᵒᵘ ᵒᶠᶠ

Her  pleading  just  made  things  harder.  Eito  felt  a  heavy  weight  and  his  chest  felt  tight.  She  felt  disgusting  in  his  arms,  the  contact  surely  staining  his  clothes  and  her  scent  would  be  all  over  him-  not  that  he  could  smell  right  now.  Then  again,  that  was  all  fake  too,  wasn't  it?  Delusions  created  by  his  condition  to  trick  him.  It  was  like  a  curse  that  he  was  forced  to  live  with.

Nozomi  was  breaking  him  down,  his  defensive  walls  crumbling  little  by  little  until  there  was  nothing  left  but  the  two  of  them.  The  entrance  hall  suddenly  felt  so  small  and  he  couldn't  help  but  tighten  his  hold  on  her  in  a  desperate  attempt  to  find  comfort.

He  didn't  realize  until  just  now,  but  he  was  crying  too.

"Can  I  really  do  that?"  Finding  happiness  was  something  he  never  thought  would  be  in  the  cards  for  him.  To  hear  her  say  that  she  wanted  him  in  her  future  felt  like  she'd  stabbed  him  and  twisted  the  knife.  How  was  he  supposed  to  stand  his  ground  and  turn  her  down  now?  What  was  he  to  do?  "Is  that  really  an  option  for  me?  To  think  you  would  want  to  stay  by  my  side  when..  I  hated  you  so  much."

Perhaps  it  was  jealousy,  alongside  the  already  preexisting  hatred  he  had  for  her  simply  because  she's  human.  Horrible  jealous  that  reared  it's  ugly  head  whenever  Takumi  looked  at  her.  He'd  only  seen  it  a  handful  of  times,  but  he  knew  that  she  was  someone  special  to  Takumi.

Eito  didn't  realize  until  just  now  that  he  wanted  Takumi  to  look  at  him  that  way.

"You  deserve  a  better  friend  than  me.  I'm  sorry..  I'm  so  sorry.  I.."

He  can't  leave  now,  can  he?  What  were  they  going  to  do?  If  things  go  south,  and  Eito  had  to  go  anyway,  would  Nozomi  follow?

She  didn't  want  him  to  give  up  hope.  She  knew  it  wouldn't  be  easy  to  convince  Sirei  that  Eito  didn't  need  to  leave,  but  she  would  do  it.  She  didn't  care  how  much  she  had  to  beg  and  plead.  He  deserved  to  be  here  after  what  humanity  had  done  to  him.  Even  if  Takumi  didn't  want  him  on  the  team.

She  could  tell  how  much  he  was  hurting.  This  wasn't  a  trick.  Eito  was  in  so  much  pain  and  she  couldn't  stand  it.  All  because  he  turned  on  them  before.  He  had  removed  his  eyes  to  show  his  devotion  and  then  he  was  sentenced  to  death.  Everyone  knew  he  would  die  out  there.  They  had  to.

She  pulled  out  of  his  embrace  just  a  tiny  bit,  allowing  a  hand  to  drift  down  his  arm  and  take  his  gloved  one  in  hers  gently.  She  forces  a  smile,  even  if  he  can't  see  it.  Her  head  hurts  a  little  from  crying,  but  it's  okay.  That  doesn't  matter  right  now.

"Can  you  come  with  me?  We  can  go  to  my  room  and  I  can  check  on  your  wounds.  I  don't  think  many  people  are  still  around.  We  might  not  even  get  spotted."  She  gives  his  hand  a  gentle  squeeze.  She  doesn't  want  to  let  go  of  his  hand  and  let  him  slip  away.
