Restart - An OFF Fangame

I apologize greatly for leaving this blog without any updates for a while. It turns out I have a really, really big problem. All data and progress on the game has been corrupted.

While transfering my information from my hard drive to my computer, I eventually encountered a huge problem, none of the files were properly saved on it. And with the new RPG Maker 2003 update, all of the data in my official program has been corrupted since the old files were not compatible with it. This essentially means I have lost pretty much everything except for a few character tilesets, but that’s about it. The rest of the game is gone. My work, gone also. This happened a while back, and I really needed to process the news, so this is why I haven’t said anything. I lost most of my passion proyect when so much was already made to bring out the new demo.

This means I will have to remake the whole game again.

However, after I processed it correctly, I looked at the bright side of things and realized this might be perfect to make everything again, but even better. Updating sprites, updating events, updating tilesets. It might give a little bit of a fresh air to the proyect. Not to worry, the original idea will be unaffected by this, and I will be sure to work digilently between my college classes to have a second demo as soon as possible but I can’t promise it will come out any time soon.

The good news is that I won’t be doing this all alone. My partner @biidkes2 is now a part of the team as a co-developer, and will be helping with general concept art, Elsen art, enemy ideas, attack concept art, and will be helping me writing some things for the Library in Zone 2! I am really sorry to make you wait so long, especially since I left without giving any updates, school has been draining me a lot, but I promise I will start to post when I have the time to do so.  I hope I can remake this into something even better than the last version.

Hello! I’m currently in a break hiatus until I get a hold of a lot of things around me, but any kind of help is greately appreciated! And of course, your roll will be credited accordingly, thank you for your kindness! I will try to make a post asap about my current situation and when the proyect will begin to be developed again.

YOU THOUGHT IT WAS OVER, h a I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED ON EDITING THE WHOLE INTRO OF THE FANGAME, AND I AM QUITE PROUD OF MYSELF.

As far as I know, there are no known bugs (fixed them all, but that took half of my sanity), so I think everything is going pretty swell! Now I can finally do the events for Zone 0 and Zone 1, and the second demo will finally be complete!! I do not have a specific date for this to come out, buuuut... I can assure you, it’s coming soon.

Thank you for supporting me all this time, guys! You really are the best! My love for OFF hasn’t been erased from the depths of my heart at any single time, and I really hope you like the demo, and everything this re-made world has to offer! I am putting my heart and soul into making this a full fangame with a nice story.

About damn time I posted something that doesn’t have to do with my personal problems Alright guys, I am getting a lot of help lately from my friends, and my health has improved a little bit, so I am back to work!

Not only have I been working only on programming, I have a little surprise for you, and I shall reveal that in the future!

I made these quick doodles since I don’t want to leave y’all hanging and waiting for some sort of update.

This guy right here is Arin, the protagonist of my fangame! He’s none other than the Guardian of the new Zone 0 himself, and the one you shall control from the very beginning of the new world!

He’s very loyal, outgoing, cheerful, and awfully optimistic for a regular Elsen, this being due to him existing for a really short period of time. He’s a bit clumsy and naive, too. His kindness towards his people make him a very likeable guy, and a good leader overall.

He looks up to you the moment you two meet, so be sure to be a good example for him.

This is Ender, Arin’s first and best friend. He’s what you’d expect from a regular Elsen; he’s shy, he’s anxious most of the time, and doesn’t like to get in trouble. That doesn’t mean he’s not strong. In fact, he might be the strongest member in your party.

He almost burnt in the past, but Arin saved him before he completely turned. He can actually manage to change his body a little bit in order to get advantage in combat.

He’s a nervous guy, but not a scaredy-cat. He is willing to fight and kill enemies without a second doubt.

YES, WE ARE STILL ALIVE, GUYS, DON’T WORRY, THE PROYECT IS NOT DISCONTINUED OR ANYTHING, IT’S JUST SLOW BUT STEADY Work on the fangame has been kinda slow, but that’s because I took a break for a while (university, you know how it is) or else I would go nuts. But, thankfully, we have a new member on the team: Lets give a warm welcome to Mathias, our new co-developer! Or, Matt 4nimates. He does not have a Tumblr, but he does have a YouTube channel, where he’s currently uploading some of the fangame’s soundtracks! So go check it out if you are interested. I’ll re-upload them here later, once I finish the fangame’s album pic. Be ready for the next update on the beta of the game, cause we’ll add the following:

Thankfully, after all this time thinking on what I could do about the big issue the previous developer left behind thanks to them leaving the proyect, I finally managed to fix the story properly, and am now working on the game itself again by my own! I might be alone in this, but that won’t bring me down anymore.

However, I didn’t want to completely erase any trace of the previous developer in the game, so... There will be a couple of references/mentions about the previous developer’s characters, this means that some of my characters actually had to be changed a little bit to be able to fit this inside the story. So, I will finally be able to introduce to you all of the characters relevant to the story the following week! And this includes the Guardians once more. Though two of them stayed intact, Brook had a great change on his personality, and now has worse burn marks on his face (due to one of the previous dev’s characters being his couple, and since they are gone, it left a really strong emotional scar on him)
