I never expected to write such words, but difficult circumstances pushed me to do so

We are LGBTQ+🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🫂 refugees living in a camp in South Sudan. We escaped violence but life here is still so hard. Many of us sleep outside on thin mats facing cold nights discrimination and fear every day.

l m a LGBTQ leader of 289 Queer… as LGBTQIA we go through homophobic life, we are discriminated whenever we go,

We cant get free medication from the government and we always look for donation to pay for our medical bills and buying our own food,

We are attacked and beaten by fellow refugees who hates queer community,

Many LGBTQ+ refugees in the camp we face severe challenges, including discrimination, insecurity, limited access to healthcare, inadequate shelter, food shortages, and barriers to education and livelihood opportunities. Despite these hardships, we continue to show remarkable resilience and courage.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to share some devastating news. A member of our community, a transgender woman, was brutally attacked last night by unknown individuals. The attackers targeted her specifically because she is transgender. They physically assaulted her and stripped her of her clothes in a horrific act of violence and humiliation.

She is now in the hospital, nursing her wounds and trying to process this traumatic event. The physical injuries are bad enough, but the psychological scars from such an attack will take a long time to heal.

This is a stark reminder that transgender people, especially trans women of color, live in constant fear of violence simply for being who they are. The situation here is not safe, and we must do everything we can to support each other.
