what i think is especially interesting about this dynamic is that the bad ending sets them up to be something new and different. he doesn’t try to kill her. and he isn’t cured — he most assuredly survives after ark. she would likely spend her life hunting him and men like him down. they would meet again and she would hate him. she would wonder why he didn’t just kill her, too. he would struggle to answer that question honestly. what can he say? that he had seen himself in her? that he believed in letting her go after what he did, he made her more like him?
