I think people forget that hetalia will always be a comedy about stereotypes, fun facts, and yaoibait. I love Hetalia and deeper explorations into it but at the end of the day we have to remember what it truly is.

To like canon and its characters should be the minimum to consider yourself a fan of something, it's not gatekeeping to expect the FANS of something to actually LIKE it. Hetalia doesn't own the concept of personified Countries, if you like the idea but you dislike Hetalia's take on it, then you don't like Hetalia period. Be honest with yourself, make up original OCs and move on instead of leeching off the tags of something you dislike. I can't believe we reached a point where expecting people to like the canon source they create content for is considered "gatekeeping". It is not and you guys are simply too afraid to let it go because you enjoy the attention that comes from posting in a relatively big fandom despite spending half the time criticizing it for the crime of rightfully giving canon more credit and attention than whatever you say.
