Hello everyone and welcome to #MIGenWeek2025!

The Mission: Impossible Gen Week is officially underway! This event is to encourage people to make gen (non-ship) fan content. All content is welcome - fanart, fanfic, video/photo edits, gifsets, playlists, etc.

To make sure there's a wide variety of prompts to choose from, please fill out this form to let me know what sorts of prompts you would like to see for this event. They can be short word prompts ("found family" "domesticity"), topic prompts ("mission gone wrong" "beach day"), AU prompts ("fantasy AU" "role reversal"), or prompts geared towards gifsets/photo edits ("best team moments" "favorite IMF team") - whatever you think you'd like to see created/make content for! You can suggest as many prompts as you like. Once I collect enough responses I'll go through them and create a prompt list based off the most popular concepts/prompts.

When the prompt list is finalized, I'll set dates for when the event will take place!

Okay the primary thing for me is that I think Benji’s promotion to team leader during TFR is more or less permanent. I don’t know if he ever has a formal conversation with Ethan about it but I think after Luther’s death Ethan is not really capable of handling the responsibility of being in charge of other people lives. I think Ethan just leaves after TFR and Benji is left as team lead with no real fanfare or formal promotion. and at some point Ethan shows back up to help with some new mission but it becomes very obvious to Benji that Ethan is just like an attack dog on autopilot that can be counted on to do specific tasks. He might even slip back into leader mode & that could create some tension between them, but truly I think Ethan is so hollowed out by this point that he doesn’t trust himself to do anything other than obey an order given to him. I think post-TFR Ethan is actually fairly obedient because most of his disobedience has historically been based around him wanting to rescue his friends/keep them safe but like he has no friends now and he’s not the one in charge making the decisions on who to save. 

And then like on Benji’s side he has to deal with a completely new team roster. The most ‘senior’ member besides himself is Grace, who’s been with the IMF for a total of two months. Paris is probably more of an Ilsa situation, idk if she’d stick around in any formal capacity but would definitely be amenable to running into them again. And I think Degas is probably someone Benji can rely on the most because he’s just like a normal well trained cool-headed guy. So definitely he’s going to be afflicted with the curse of being the competent coworker that everyone wants to give tasks to. 

thinking about FR breaking the seal on Ethan making plans where he's expecting to die after completing the part of the mission only he can do (i'm glad it didn't happen this way, but logistically if the team hadn't been able to revive him - which had to have been a very real possibility considering he drowned and it could take them hours to find him - they could have still taken the Podkova off his body and headed to the Doomsday Vault). i think in the post-FR dynamic laid out here that would start happening a lot more often. maybe even clashing with Benji on how much autonomy he's allowed to have on the details of his assigned tasks, because he keeps ending up stranded as soon as he's done what's asked of him.

thinking about Benji taking him to task for it and Ethan trying to brush it off by telling Benji that he's the team leader now. none of Ethan's team leaders have ever cared all that much what happens to Ethan in the course of completing missions - not any of the various IMF heads, not Jim, and certainly not Ethan himself.

well, there are so many i don't even know where to begin. ethan fkin crying in front of briggs. the submarine panic. luther's final scene. but there's one that actually hit me. the final scene where they're in the square in london, and. just.

they all walk away from each other.

that's what gets about mi, man. they're a found family, no doubt. but they don't get to keep each other around. they don't get to live around each other, to keep each other company, to walk away together after a mission. it's so beautiful and sad and bittersweet and lonely. they love each other so much but they can't engage in that love outside the workplace.
