No offense to the original poster, who has every right to their own opinion.

But still, Whoops! Sorry the history of your own religion offends you!

Truth is, Christianity did spread that way. I don’t see Christianity and Origin to be the same thing. Christianity on a whole (as someone who was once a Sunday School teacher) is a much more loving and kind religion WHEN DONE RIGHT. But it is often done wrong, involving shoving people into boxes they don’t belong in and shunning people despite the whole “love everybody and let God sort it out” message in the Bible.

If you’re going to love a religion, you don’t have to love the way it began, or the way others use it. Just it’s message.

As the OP, I would like to say, I'm not a Christian. I'm actually a Pagan I have been for the last half of my life. I veered off the Christian path due to me realizing it was not a loving and nurturing path for me, and no offence to yourself - I'm sure you were a lovely one, it was partly due to my own sunday school teacher being one of those 'fire and brimstone' dragons. For the last decade I've been in a much happier place due to the spiritual path I found than I ever was on the path my parents find.

That is why, when I finally got around to watching the latter seasons of SG1, this storyline just didn't sit well. Mind you, I admit that I lost interested in the show when I was school - mainly due to time constraints and just lacking the ability to keep up with it. I think we all know how that can be. The whole plot just unsettled me because I was, and still am like so many others, subjected to that type of force. "You're damning your own soul!" "You don't want to go to hell, do you?!" That is what I saw in it. Origin was supposed to be a copy of Christianity on the show. I wish they had done a better job at showing us the good side of it, instead of the bad. Most of what was shown was the bullying.

And to be frank, I'm shock that it was allowed to continue on for the amount of time that it did without some Christian Conservative group beating down the showrunner's door.

We live in a society that teaches us 'Don't Get Raped' and blames the victim when they do. Our government has men trying to define what rape is or isn't! When will we begin teaching our young ones - our society as a whole! - 'DO NOT RAPE'? When will we stop blaming the victim!? Look at your hands. Take a long look at them. You are NOT allowed to use them, in any shape or form, to harm another living soul. No matter how drunk that person is, no matter if that person is walking down the street by themselves, no matter what they are wearing. Repeat this, society, to yourself - until you believe it. You can do whatever you want to with your own body, but you are not allowed to violate another person! So no, I don't pity these boys, they deserve every bit of comeuppance they get. I pity the girl who has to live with stigmata for the rest of her life, since she will always be the one these boys blame for their lives being ruined. I wouldn't be able to look at my own reflection if I were them.
