These are a few of my favorite things (in 2025 so far)

Between banger new releases, recommendations, and things I just happened to stumble upon, here are a few of my favorite things in 2025. (Not all **released** in 2025. Also I haven't heard the new Deftones yet give it to meeeeeeeeeeee)

We've been waiting five years for a proper release from Loathe (If you don't count "The things they believe." I don't.) But my GODS was it worth the wait. This song alone is the culmination of Loathe's evolution as a band. So if you've enjoyed their music more and more with each release, this song (and hopefully the upcoming LP) will blow you away. <3

The Dear Hunter tends to be a band I need to be in a "mood" for. Not with the North American EP and ESPECIALLY not with Burritokyo. This dreamy jam has stayed in heavy rotation since release back in June. I listen to a lot of heavy music, so having softer songs like this when I need to take the edge off is a godsend.

I only just discovered NakeyJakey's YouTube Channel last year. I discovered Jakey's music *this year.* And while Romcom is an insanely fun listen, I stay STUCK on the beat from South Dakota. Yes the lyrics aren't 10/10 but they're fun as hell and accompanied by some of the nastiest (affectionate) production.

Clipse releasing an album in 2025 was not on my bingo card and I do not care; this album finds a way to make you nod your head while instilling the fear of GOD in you. It's a flexathon of wit with the absolute coldest aura ever delivered. 15 years apart musically and the duo of Pusha T and Malice STILL haven't lost their chemistry; and with the production of Pharrell Williams, this was always going to be a 10.

Boundaries is my favorite discovery of 2025 and I wish I would've discovered them like 4 years ago. Your Receding Warmth, Burying Brightness, and Death Is Little More is a trifecta of PERFECT albums; cover to cover, no filler. From their song structure, to the gnarly beatdown elements, the clean vocals (WHICH ARE DONE BY THE FUCKING DRUMMER BTW), the visceral screaming vocals, everything about this bands music absolutely rips and I think if you even remotely like heavy music, you should give these guys a listen.
