the demonization of rosie was disgusting. the retcon of her owning alastor? given how the writers couldn't help but throw in r@diocrapple pandering at the very end once they realized how distasteful woobifying an incel was despite these 2 characters hating each other prior and lucifer kicking alastor down at his lowest? and how rosie used to be his best friend in season 1 now turned into a nagging stereotype and somehow, so out of touch with alastor's emotions despite being a armchair therapist in s1? it's so vile. they really did this to rosie to push 2 ships that are either abusive or just plainly insulting and not helpful to real queer people.

rosie deserved better. she deserved so much better and anyone who says this season did her good is lying. the fact that she was tossed under the bus for 2 ships with mediocre white men says it all. alastor is no saint, but the rape fetishism was uncalled for and frankly, speaks volumes how the writer's room is no different than the cishet white toxic fumes of hollywood live action films.

i have almost nothing left to say but i genuinely hope that the next leaks that will occur won't make me sick to the point of vomiting like s2 has. the worst second season of a show ive seen in 7 years. worse than voltron.

I don't have much more to add tbh, it's obvious that they use fanservice a lot and female characters get thrown under the bus, in this particular case Rosie. It's giving 2009's yaoi ship wars on deviantart and I never had patience for those let alone nowadays. The whole forced voyeurism scene was absolutely atrocious though, I was flabbergasted looking at my TV screen

Hello! First of all thank you for your words, I’m very glad to hear that you enjoy my writing!

Regarding your questions… I’ll try to keep it short and minimally structured. Also, to every person who potentially reads this, keep in mind that this is my opinion for what is worth. You can disagree and that's ok, friends as always.

Season 2 went, in a way, exactly how I was expecting it would go. Showed potential but barely focused on where it should and continued to trip over the same flaws as season 1 mainly on pacing and significant character development. Time constraint is a thing because of the number of episodes and I’m perfectly aware of it but, for me this only highlights the lack of structure in terms of worldbuilding and screentime for each character. There’s a lot of characters and not enough time for all of them and in season 2 we got introduced to even more characters. But I digress.

I feel like have to talk about Charlie at this point and how she is being handled. Long story short, it’s not good. Charlie and the main plot are intrinsically connected, fail on one and it will be noticeable on the other. And this, unfortunately, is a show that treats its main character as an afterthought and it’s not even discreet about it. This started in season 1 and it only got worse.

I understand that Charlie is an optimistic, bright eyed, kind character and that’s perfectly fine I love that contrast of her personality with the world that surrounds her but, she has a title associated with her. She’s the princess of a whole kingdom. And Charlie is, I’m sorry to say, utterly incompetent on her role. Listen, I come from a country that had almost 800 years of monarchy before the republic was implemented. My neighbouring country has a constitutional monarchy. Trust me when I say that the heir of a throne is trained for the role since childhood, therefore I cannot compute how Charlie is written to be such a naïve, clueless character regarding the world that surrounds her and the kingdom that she is to inherit. She cannot even control the Hotel, let alone anything else. Plus, most of the plot of season 2 only somewhat worked because Charlie didn’t act or didn’t think things through. One thing is to be prideful, and stubborn other is to be running around like a headless chicken which was what she did most of the time.

Most of plot with Vox could have been handled in a different way if she had not had the asinine idea of inviting him to the Hotel for an exclusive interview. You mean to tell me that this being, this possible Nephilim, with at least a couple of centuries of age didn’t consider that Vox, a media related Overlord who has constantly been blasting her and her Hotel on TV, wouldn’t distort her words? Come on now. Not to mention that the whole plotline between her and Angel was just plain cringy, I felt like I had accidently changed channel and was watching a kids’ show.

Let’s move on to Rosie, shall we?

I was not minimally surprised with Rosie’s plot point this season because I was already expecting something of the sort to happen and it wasn’t because of the leaks or anything. I’m probably going to say something now that can be a bit controversial but please bear with me: In my opinion, the creator doesn’t seem to like female characters. At least not as much as she likes male ones.

I began to notice a certain pattern still during season 1 of HH and all the seasons of HB which is, 99% of the female characters, so far, are being placed in one of these boxes:

BOX 1 // The Underdeveloped (ex: Charlie, Vaggi)

BOX 2 // Supporting the Male Cast (ex: Millie, Velvette)

BOX 3 // The Evil Bitch (ex: Stella, Lute and given how things are going Rosie)

Rosie for me, as I’m sure you have noticed from my fics, has a fantastic potential to be a great character. In canon it was already shown that she is intelligent, she’s a leader, she’s charismatic. I really don’t want her to secretly be Lilith, Roo, Eve or whatever theory people have going on. I want her to be her own character. If she is to be made a villain let her at least be a villain on her terms and not someone’s secret identity, that’s a waste of potential.

I personally would rather that she is not a main villain just because it’s always a woman and they’re not even that well written. Stella is written as a stupid irritating bitch and Lute is written as an angry bitch whose whole personality was to be at Adam’s orders. Hopefully she gets more character development in the future but I’m not expecting anything major. I don’t know what they are planning for Rosie in the future but I’m not holding my breath.
