Comes the smooth, amused reply while Rudy has his laugh fit. The sphinx walking further into the room. When said laughter turned into coughs though, his expression turns more serious and heâs quick to move to the reindeer manâs side. Hand coming up to gently rub and pat Rudyâs back until the other could settle down again with the hospital pillows.
âYour lungs are still strong for you to cough like that, thatâs good. I have something good to work with.â
Comes the chipper words, pen and clipboard being taken up once more so the nurse could take a few quick notes.
âIâm Xel, by the way.~â
Rudy sighs in exhaustion once the string of chesty coughs leaves him, head falling on the propped-up pillow in defeat. He canât help but chuckle ironically at his new nurseâs comment. âHeh⌠here I was, thinkinâ how nice itâd be if my lungs werenât tryinâ to blast outta my throatâŚâ His voice is notably more hoarse than it was before. âTurns out itâs a good thing to sound this bad?â
âUh, Xel⌠do me a solid and, um⌠tell my daughter that when she visits today. She looked real worried the last time it happened.â
His ear twitch at that and he looks up from his notes, giving the reindeer man a reassuring smile
âIâll make sure to reassure her that your organs are not as bad as the cough makes them sound. Though, I will advise her that you shouldnât be doing any stand up comedy any time soon either.â
He continues, tone turning just a tad playful at the end. Xel looked back down at his clipboard and continued on to finish off what heâd been jotting down.
âDo you want something to help soothe down your throat? All of that coughing isnât good for that either.â
Rudy clears his throat, reaching for an itch at the back of his throat that he can't scratch. His voice sounds like crumpled paper.
"Long as I'm not dopey when Noelle comes to visit, drug me up!"
Maybe this new nurse doesn't know who Noelle is...
"My daughter, by the way. Noelle Holiday. Did Nurse Doris tell you? She comes by everyday. She ain't that giant guy that comes around just as much, in case ya get confused!"
