QUEEN.
Riza senses her guards’ trepidation and increasing tension as the length of this encounter stretches on. She’s well aware that they would prefer the dragon to take her bounty, examine it, and then once satisfied, promptly vacate the premises until her next payment was due. But the queen knows the workings of the nefarious well. So long as Solaris was content with her spoils, let her linger so she can examine her adversary. The enemy you know.
Her hand waves to her guards to exit the chambers. “But your highness-.” And she gives them a look. “Just outside the doors.” She knows that move would have but a large, inevitable target on her back, as well as that Solaris would eviscerate her before they could even open the chamber doors. And yet the queen is fairly certain that if she at least caters to Solaris’ desires and whims that won’t be a problem. Doesn’t mean she won’t be bullheaded all the way down the line. Only once they’re gone does she rise to procure the appropriate vessels for the wine. “They’re good men but sometimes err on overprotective.”
- “They cherish you, for you are a good queen to your people and men.” Lust knows the honor Riza follows so delightfully; It was shown with the riches offered and the hospitality between them both. ( Oh, who was Solaris kidding - she was using her just as much as Riza was using her. ) The dragon smirks as she looks onward, purring contently as she casually looks over the riches once more. “Knowing them, the amount of gold here is nothing compared to their precious queen. Don’t they know I would never cross you? It makes me feel as though you speak ill of me when I am gone, Riza.”
A taunt, eyes locked on the royalty with a flicker of a challenge lingering there. She knows both of them would never truly end the game of cat and mouse - Solaris is thrilled with the hunt and Riza hardly made the game boring. ( In fact, it had been centuries since Solaris last had fun… ) Walking over to take a seat, the dragon leans back in her seat as she speaks. “You wouldn’t be so callous, now would you?”
“You think me a fool to do such a thing in your absence?” As if the queen wasn’t fully aware of Solaris’ scope of influence and awareness within the world at large. Riza understood that she was better suited to deal with the woman before her personally than to send any of her men in her stead. Solaris would make even the strongest of men shake in their armor and hesitate with their swords - present form or otherwise. It had been clear from the beginning that Solaris had come to bargain with only the Queen. She suspects that even if she were bedridden with illness or injury, Solaris would be in her personal chambers collecting her wares. As much as there was always tension, Riza felt there was at least a minor level of respect.
She sets the crystal between them, pausing for a moment in wait. Either Solaris would pass over the bottle for her to distribute the spirits or she would take it upon her self. Riza’s eyes meet hers either way. “We may not be of complete agreement, but if you continue to take these spoils and leave my countrymen and my lands unscathed, this can continue.” Otherwise, Riza would seek other means to cut her down that outshined any measly threat she could currently pose to the woman across from her. But for now, she was without any solution, and the preservation of her kingdom preceded any loss she incurred from Solaris’ regular collections.
