I know it’s a running joke in the fandom but I hope people realize how truly horrible Regulus’ drowning was. It wasn’t because he couldn’t swim, it was because he was being dragged down by corpses, like that’s just absolutely horrid.

Imagine a bunch of pruny fingers with weak nails grabbing you and pulling you down, uncaring for where they’re touching or how, pulling on his hair, his cheek, his eyes, his legs. The sound they made, the screams of agony. His screams. He couldn’t fight against them, that’s how many there were, not to mention the potion he drank.

He was delirious with fear, hallucinating, in pain and dying of thirst, all the while being dragged into putrid water by hundreds of living corpses. It wasn’t just a drowning. His death was unthinkable.
