Metas ~ and relative asks

Keep in mind that some of them easily fit in more than one category but to avoid confusion I've not repeated them unless they were an ask which gave birth to a new category (like in the case of Mirri analysis).

Neutral

This category contains metas (and asks) which are conducted without shipping glasses or with as less favouritism as possible for those characters I like more than others as I try to keep an objective mind over events, characters and foreshadowings.

A juxtaposition of queens

This category contains metas (and asks) about the queens of asoiaf (Cersei, Margaery, Sansa, Daenerys) and it confronts them in several posts (sometimes all of them; sometimes only putting one against the others as they are used as political and moral rivals).

Sansa's defence and love

This category is a self-indulgent, love filled declaration for my favourite character in the whole asoiaf series, Sansa Stark (might not be your cup of tea if you hate her, but might be exactly what you are searching for if you'd like to read some love for our favourite gal without being an apologists of those — very few — mistakes she's made).

Jonsa foreshadowing

This category contains metas and posts and asks about the ship Jon Snow/Sansa Stark and its foreshadowings (thought better meta writers have written entire encyclopaedias about them, who are a treat to read!) throughout the books. Steer clear if you mislike this ship.

Dark Daenerys

This category encapsulates the foreshadowings and the proofs, in my opinion, of the dark Daenerys theory and of how her character is not as good and pious as the POV trap would have us believe.

Character analysis (asks and on my own)

A category filled with analysis (on my own or sparked by some asks) about the characters of the world of asoiaf. It contains also the sub-series Women of “A song of Ice and Fire” which focuses on less studied and cared for female characters of the world of asoiaf (some of them are still to be written and can be found in the “cooking in the pot” category down below) though for now we have Mirri Maz Duur, Lollys Stockeworth and Tysha Silverfist and Shella Whent and how they are linked to some main characters from the serie.

RS: characters back from the dead

A series analysing the characters of asoiaf who have been resurrected outright and those have been resurrected in a much subtle way and those who apparently are resurrected but actually might not be.

Sansa' empathy and courage (book canon) a series in two or three parts (still to be defined) about Sansa' empathy and courage.

Overlooked and interesting women of thrones (book canon) a series of posts and character analysis about the overlooked women of asoiaf (Mirri Maz Duur is the first of them, here; we'll be covering Lady Merryweather, Ellaria Sand and how dirty they played her in the show, Eroeh and Hazzea why Daenerys is forgetting them, Irri and Jihqui and Missandei, Myranda Royce & Mya Stone replacements for Jeyne Poole?, I might do a meta about Jeyne P. but I might wait a little bit to see if Winds gets published, Jeyne Westerling and her tragic love for Robb; and many more to come — also requested)

Arya and Samael, venom of (the) God(s) — if Azōr Ahaī is not a dark hero, or if he has a double face like Samael/Lucifer both faces of the same person but core different, spurned by the series of metas about the dark Azōr Ahaī and Daenerys biblical parallels.

Azōr Ahaī, different figures inspired by the same story?, what we know of him and the various legends born maybe of the same person and his/her legend (the last hero, the woman with the monkey tail, etcetera) why the differences might mean something for the ending.

Sansa' method of ruling (book and show canon) what she has learned and how it influences her ruling style; titled If I ever am queen, I'll make them love me.

How the Daenerys' upbringing has led her to be THE dragon (book and show canon), why her trauma explains her behaviour and may make us feel sympathy for the girl who wanted the house with the big, red door; but how it doesn't justify her actions, titled Why do the Gods make kings and queens?, dragons plant no trees.

The Italian commedia dell'arte metas, a series of metas hinging on Sansa Stark and Jon Snow as their imo commedia dell'arte counterparts; a series composed (for now) of three parts (I might add to it): Sansa and La Colombina (Little Dove) a meta about the character of the Colombina, one of the most beloved characters of the Venice carnival; Jon Snow and Harlequin & Pierrot two heroes combined together to make Jon Snow, the romantic hero/fool and the somber, melancholic hero; Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, la Colombina and Arlecchino & Pierrot the loyal/disloyal servants (of their people interests) and romantic heroes.

I have several other stories (but I update them less frequently) you can find them here. We span from gender-bend, Merlin, asoiaf, The Hobbit and Narnia fandom to historical and modern AUs with many ships (you can find either requested fics or fics born of my own mind alone).

I mean... a Targaryen queen who will do unspeakable to "her" people, who has been doing terrible things; declaring herself true queen - in her rival's rightful seat.

And her rival? They are precisely what she thinks she is.

The camera cutting to the throne when she calls Aegon usurper, reminds us that the throne never rejected Aegon (who will pass to history as the true king) meanwhile it rejected Rhaenyra.

The camera cutting to Sansa after Daenerys exposed her "dream" of a golden age under their "rightful queen"... reminds us that it's Sansa who ends up Queen in the North, named by her people and loved.

So yes... they will butcher anything else, but these... these two pictures actually tells us the end of the story. And it's not good for either Targaryen "queen".

Might I also remind everyone that Rhaenyra is never considered queen in history but princess...and in the beginning of HOTD the text specifically said "...before the birth of princess Daenerys" (and whilst I do think it has something to do with playing with the idea she's the princess that was promised - Azor Ai Reborn which is not necessarily a good thing, it also reminds us that Daenerys was never recognized queen of the Seven Kingdoms).

To be fair, it wasn't so much that Lyanna wasn't good enough for a "royal match" but that the "royal match" is already married.

Also interesting to see children that aren't from her brother, wonder if they still have an affair in this au or was Jamie a tad more honorable or does the voice of the mad king still haunt him? How disillusioned is he with the world and being a white knight, could Sansa bring back a bit of pride out of him, find actual meaning in the white cloak — I don't know if you heard or a believer in the theory of Jamie being a queen/king maker through the starks or that his redemption will be somehow tied to them. The family he tore apart for love now he has to assist for his honor. 

Enjoyed seeing Jon slipping up. Understandably so, he keeps getting hit after hit his mother forced marriage, finding out the Stark might actually not hate them and someone been keeping them apart (allegedly), being force into a new role without proper procedure, sansa getting married-- and it totally not bothering him. At least there's some comfort in getting to know his extended family.

Sansa finally finding some footing after 3 fail assassination attempt, careful Commander Waters, this is the type of stories a minstrel might sing about. 

OMG @7thkarma this sat in my drafts for-ever! I was so bad and completely forgot I wanted to reply to you. I’m so sorry, I swear I am not mean sometimes I just forget!

Anyway, below what I had written.

Yes, we will see more of Jaime and his “redemption” in a way… but it won’t be likely how you expect it, and we won’t see it for a while yet, as it will happen from maybe mid-second installment of the duology. Also yes, the parallel is there, between Sansa and Lyanna just like in the books, and I think we will see even more parallels between them (about loving, hating… despising and yet protecting). Perhaps Sansa ought not to get too comfortable in thinking she understands Lyanna without issue, because there are inner, hidden depths there that we have not yet explored.

Is Jon truly slipping up?, or is it all part of his Machiavellian plan?, remember that he has been working tirelessly to create a network of people loyal to him over the crown, over his brother; and though he does seem innocent of most speculation, is he really?, or is that just a facade and Sansa is the creak beneath the mask?, slowly opening and showing something we cannot yet see?, there is a reason why Jon, whilst still a bastard, has yet such an influence and “power” in a way over the court, and who knows how Rhaegar saw that … who knows how minstrel will see that; will they see an infatuated bastard?, will they see a noble man falling pray of a witch?, will they see a king’s son choosing an encompassing love over a mediocre life for himself and his beloved?

Who knows?, for certain songs are sung for all these kind of stories… yet, which ones are the ones that stick up the most?

Now, now that the first installment is done for, what do you think? Have I replied to some of your speculations?, what do you make of what we have seen so far? Is Jon still matter of songs with his love for Sansa?, are Sansa and Lyanna truly parallels, or are they foils?; and what of Rhaegar’ own plans and the way they defined how the court moved around him and Lyanna, and the way the Realm will have to move now?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on that!

Are you going to write and post the R/E/L prequel after the ‘Aster and the Crown’ is completed? Or will we get a sneak peak before?

That is a good question. My idea is yes, to first wait until A&C is completed before I post the prequel, but I think that if you look closely enough and are not singleminded focused on what you want to perceive… (because it’s always flawed, unreliable narrators) you might actually sees hints and specks of what would the prequel be.

Like… Daenaera thinks Rhaegar considered only Elia as his equal; Rhaenys believes her mother was good, and kind, but that she had also a weakness that condemned them all; Aegon believes his mother was perfect and did no wrong, ever. Aegon, Rhaenys and most of the court all believe that Rhaegar favored Lyanna and loved her above all others. People now will assume Rhaegar loved Lyanna best because he took steps to ensure that she was treated accordingly to the depth of their love. Cersei believes she was Rhaegar true love, but he was blinded by the she wolf. What is the truth? It’s there. If you look closely enough you can see it.

Yes, Rhaegar ensured that Lyanna had, at least, the legitimacy of a morganatic bond, and raised her son above his station. He wanted (allegedly) Jon to inherit the Iron throne, so he hated Aegon?; does that bond mean he loved her best? The answer is there, if you look closely enough, between the lines.

So, yes, you will have wait until A&C is done, but if you look closely enough you will see it. Because the main story (Knight and A&C) are based off the ground that the prequel built; so of course that story somehow still influences the main story.

Let this matter remain buried and dead.

I just realised I did not share this from latest chapter of Redamancy.

It was no secret that lady Lyanna would have rather Jon retired to private life so that she could keep her promise to Queen Elia, but she would stand by him as he had been almost killed by his brother; it was no secret either that though she might love her niece she had long since bested the practice of loving and hating in equal measure and if her motherly instincts impeded her from hating her son, thus was not for her niece whom she regarded upon times as the worst plague to ever happen to her sweet son.

Well first of all… isn’t she already? She’s the de facto Lady of the Eyrie, or as we say facenti veci for Robert since his mother has died (*cough cough* has been assassinated once she wasn’t useful anymore *cough cough*). She wears the Lady’s clothes and jewels, she organises the keep and the journey and as well as the tourney for the naming of the knights of Robert’s guard (her own idea if we have to believe what little we have seen of Winds). All things a regent would do, LF is too busy plotting and Sansa is seizing that blank of power and doing what she knows how to do best, breed loyalty and rule.

Remember who her mother is. Sansa has learnt how to manage a keep. She knows how to rule in the stead of those who can’t and has seen her father doing his job as Hand for however briefly; she has seen what corrupted power looks like and she always remembers that loves is the surer route to loyalty. Of course regency is in her cards; why in the show she was regent of the North whilst Jon was away.

She’s striking up a friendship with Myranda (and through her she will have the Royces, and the Lords Declarant of the Vale) just like Ned did with the valemen, and whilst Littlefinger plays his games (possibly poisoning sweetrobin) Sansa is playing her game too.

Hypothetically… LF is ready to marry Sansa off to Harry the Heir (and maybe ensure the actually becomes the lord of the Vale meanwhile) and then Harry the Heir will move with the knights of the Vale to help her claim back Winterfell, someone must remain behind to rule over the Eyrie.

The natural conclusion would be Sansa, as regent either to an ill sweetrobin or as lady in her own right.

I don’t think sweetrobin will die, mostly because I think LF will not expect Sansa to be smart enough to save him, but somehow she will manage it and learn to slowly outplay LF.

Yet, yes nonny, I think that a possible “full and legal” regency for Sansa over the Vale is completely in the cards.

Also yes. We love the strong, powerful ladies of the Vale! All of them, queen Sharra and lady Jeyne… Rhea Royce too, who ruled Runestone in her own right and when she died (or was killed… still debating) instead of going to her husband all her lands went to her kin, as it should — good job lady Jeyne. Myranda and Mya as well.
