“Yes…! I-It works the– the same way basically… b-but it’s a little h-harder…? It’s weird b-but I can still do it…!” Zirzir said with a nod, looking around cautiously. They couldn’t help but to be worried.

They looked at the shop pointed out to them and fidgeted faintly. “…A-are you sure…? I mean– what if th-the sign is a trap… o-or something…”

The idea hadn’t crossed his mind. Red turned to glance inside the shop, and he held up his hand to keep Zirzir from following before he promptly stepped inside, delving into the store to find an employee.

A minute later, he returned, stepping out and rejoining the omnic.

They slowed down a bit as they were asked this, head lowering for a short moment. “Ah– I-I was… never told… I-I’ve been figuring that out m-myself…” Zirzir said, fingers tapping their arm. “S-so far… I believe I was m-meant to be… some sort of translator… b-but that’s it. I don’t know a-anything else yet, if… there even is a-anything else.”

They avoided looking in the windows of shops. The ones that were actually open now all seemed to have rather… big and obvious signs that omnics weren’t welcome there. They didn’t want to accidentally make some sort of awkward eye contact with someone glaring them down through the window.

“Th-the translating… is very h-helpful, at least… I can understand j-just about everyone… no– no matter wh-where I go.”

Immediately, Red’s thoughts shifted to what Talon would think about an omnic like Zirzir. There was a benefit in having a translator accompanying operatives to various countries, as speech augments were a hassle to install for small trips.

He shot that idea down quickly enough- it would be cruel to subject such a sweet and soft speaking omnic to Talon’s needs.

“That’s really interesting!” he commented. “Can you read other languages too?”

He continued along, and finally, he spotted a sign on a window in small print reading ‘omnic services available’. The lights in the building were on.
