I promised @star-gazing-knight that I’d draw her a little something and she begged to have a little lancelot to be put onto tumblr, so I made this real quick based on her Walk on Water oneshot. When I showed this to her, she got inspired to type a little blurb for this that’s based in the same universe as that story.
If there was one thing that Lance had come to discover, it was that nothing ever happened as expected when with Lotor. Plans tended to go sideways, no matter how small or insignificant the plan was.
‘Smooth Sailing’ was the last description that Lance would give to Lotor’s life. Heck, things had been more peaceful when he’d been with Voltron. Which was sad, considering Voltron was the Defender of the Universe and all that. Most of the time, it was frustrating and annoying how comically bad things could a turn towards, but it wasn’t in Lance’s nature to dwell on that. He’d come to embrace the crazy dramatics of a life with Lotor, including the mess they were currently in.
He threw a smile over his shoulder, as he pulled on the glove of his armor. “Come on, we’ve had worse dates.” He teased, trying to make Lotor feel better about the outcome of their latest attempt at a romantic outing.
Lotor huffed, his presence a warm reassurance at Lance’s back, even as he rushed to slide on his own armor. “That very well may be, but getting blasted is not romantic.” Lance laughed, a carefree sound that wouldn’t belong on any other battlefield except one with Lotor. “Perhaps not.” Lance agreed. “But you know I find it hot watching you mow down enemies, babe.” He didn’t need to look at Lotor to know how his words would affect the prince, but he turned to look anyways, spinning around to press a quick kiss against the corner of his mouth. “Come back safe, alright? We’ve a date to finish.” Lance whispered as he pulled away, and then he was off, sprinting away to find a good vantage point to both watch the show Lotor was bound to give, and teach these idiots why they shouldn’t have interrupted their date.
