i have zero knowlege of opera and i wont be the only one, so here are some interesting things

Act! While in delirium, I no longer know what I say, or what I do! And yet it's necessary. Force yourself! Bah! Are you even a man? You are a clown! Put on your costume and powder your face. The people are paying, and they want to laugh here. And if Harlequin steals away your Columbina, laugh, clown, and all will applaud! Turn your distress and tears into jokes, your pain and sobs into a smirk, Ah! Laugh, clown, at your broken love! Laugh at the grief that poisons your heart!

Pierrot is absolutely THE clown, he is a character archetype that countless works have utilised over hundreds of years in order to quickly convey what the audience can expect from a character. Pagliacci uses his likeness to convey that, much like Pierrot, Pagliaccio is a sad clown (with an unfortunate love life).

The other reason I have no difficulty believing that the clown is inspired by Pagliacci (and therefore also Pierrot), is because the lltbp tour is surrounded by opera already.

The character Marianne appears on stage every night and is an opera singer. She is potentially inspired by Mag from Repo! The Genetic Opera (link to @plasmapumpkin's post)

One of the long live the black parade tour teasers featured an opera singer, and was fittingly titled "Opera." including the quotation marks. Many people believe "Opera." may be the title of an unreleased song.

Also, whilst making this post I was trying to remember when they played an opera song at the start of a show during swarm tour in 2022. Turns out, it was night 4 at Kia Forum, LA.
