Opisthoteuthis, or flapjack octopus, is a genus of cirrate octopuses common throughout our global Ocean, usually in the deep.

Using their umbrella-like body shape, they can swim and float through the water, and their fins help guide their way (despite looking like large floppy ears). ROV teams often see these animals along sediment-laden seafloor, where they seem to dine well on worms and other small squishy animals.

The internal name for Paper Mario: Color Splash is "gojika", which is most likely a Romanization of 午時花 (noon flower), which is famous for its distinctive 5 petals. This is almost certainly a reference to this game being the fifth in the Paper Mario series.

Top: this is what the regular ending of the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, known internationally as Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, looks like. It is extremely similar to the ending of the original Super Mario Bros., except instead of Mario walking up to Peach directly after defeating Bowser, he first approaches a door, which then turns into Peach (presumably either he walks through a door and she is on the other side, or she walks through it) before she speaks.

Bottom: there is a commonly known glitch in Super Mario Bros. whereby Mario activates Bowser's axe on the same frame as touching Bowser, resulting in him both winning and losing at the same time. The camera then usually scrolls over to Toad or Peach who speak to nobody before the level ends.

In the case of the ending of Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, there is an additional side effect of that glitch. The door never turns into Peach, so that the text from Peach starts appearing without either Mario or Peach being physically present, with just the door being on screen. Normally, the seven Toads also appear after this (not shown in the footage); these also fail to appear during this glitch.

This species is not related to South American Ovenbirds (family Furnariidae), but is instead in the New World/Wood Warbler family Parulidae.

The common name comes from the oven-shaped ground nest they make, which is domed, and constructed of woven together plant materials (such as grasses and pine needles).

Top: in Donkey Kong Bananza, the elephants in the Tempest Layer are a community of weather forecasters. While at first this appears to be simply a deliberately odd combination, similarly to the zebra ice cream makers or snake sculptors found elsewhere in the game, this may actually be based on a real-world scientific fact about elephants.

Bottom: it was long suspected and finally confirmed in a 2014 study that, using a combination of not yet understood subtle signs in the environment, elephants are able to predict rainfall from 150 miles away and migrate towards it to increase chances of finding food and water. It is theorized that the mechanism of their detection involves their acute hearing and an ability to sense atmospheric pressure changes.

Whether this connection is deliberate or merely a remarkable coincidence is unknown.
