So I’m just very confused on this whole ordinance in general. I know it’s not just about allowing the different sex in bathrooms but.. When the hell was that ever an issue.. Never in my life have I ever seen a straight up DUDE walk his merrily way into a women’s bathroom.. Or vise versa. (Unless it was a gay club with unisex). I’ve never heard of any assaults or harassments from a man dressing like a women and going into the woman’s bathrooms or a woman dressing as a man and entering a mans bathroom.
If you are presenting yourself as a woman/man, and use the opposite bathroom of what genitalia you were born with, I don’t see a problem with that and I’ve never heard of someone having a problem with that(A.K.A. Telling a transgendered person to leave, calling the cops.. Etc). No matter if there is a law or not, if someone wants to dress like the opposite sexes and harm someone in a bathroom.. They are going to do it and voting NO on an equality ordinance because your scared someone is going to do that now is ridiculous. But at the same time how can you blame them? All they heard for months on this ordinance was “NO MEN IN WOMENS BATHROOMS, NO BOYS IN GIRLS BATHROOMS!” .. That’s not even what that ordinance is truly about! It’s about having equality rights! So that if you are a transgendered person, fully clothed like a woman.. You aren’t forced to go into a mans bathroom because you have a penis hidden somewhere in there. Because yeah, that would turn out wonderful.
The point is here, Houston, in general, voted NO on Proposition 1, for equality in the general public including work, public transportation and public bathrooms. Which entailed that people of differences, mostly of LBGT, don’t really have equality rights. They can be fired for being gay, told to leave a public bathroom if someone thinks they actually have a penis/vagina, and they can be denied service.
This sounds a lot like laws we passed in order for African Americans to have the same rights in public as a white man.
So Houston, what do you have to say for yourselves?
