wow i really did not like that and i don't remember being this put off by it before

someone who worked on these subtitles made a lot of simple mistakes that i don't think were present in the subtitles they're based on? like the subs just now said "I'm Hijikata Toshizou" when it was Kondou speaking for Toshi who refused to answer (literally "Hijikata Toshizou desu")

the heusken episode kind of sucks and i find it pretty unbearable on this rewatch

kondou toshi and mitsu as three people who are all behaving in ways seen as unfitting for their station...

they made sato hikogoro such a fool which is kind of strange considering he did a lot irl and we have a lot of information thanks to his involvement and his descendants preserving that

there actually was someone posting about my fav relationship from this show in a standard yaoi fandom way for several years and it sucked so bad we ended up in a mutual block

ppl in fandom making characters lesbians are always like: what do you mean i have to give her characterization - i made her a lesbian! aren't you happy? she's a lesbian!

one thing that has always kind of irked me is that when ppl like the platonic relationship between a male and a female character, they always make her a lesbian as some kind of "security" that she'll never ever get with him. but i really dislike all the implications that come with that. the idea that if she were attracted to men then she'd HAVE to be attracted to him too is soooo lame and just reflects on women really grossly. and im pro more lesbians of course, but i really wish ppl ever had that headcanon because they actually cared about exploring it and not just as insurance against hetships
