#also i heard that the staff at the show initially did dismiss it???#a little less on topic but #the average man disavows rape/sexual harassment but he simply doesn't think his own behavior falls in those categories #it's not that hard to understand #there are lots of men who say rapists should be imprisoned or killed who sexually control and coerce their own wives etc #sometimes ppl think that men speaking out against sexual assault makes them by definition incapable of being perpetrators #it must mean that they are super mindful of clearly getting enthusiastic consent in their own relationships #and that's just not the reality #they'll also defend their buddies because 'he's a good person he wouldn't do that'#at this point men saying that ppl shouldn't do [obviously very bad thing] to women is just an empty gesture to me

With a heavy heart, I come to you all with the news announced by close friends of Cat Frazier that she had passed away on Monday, June 29.

She had been running @animatedtext since 2012, with her impact on the internet SHAPING tumblr. If you have a years long history on this site, you’ve seen her art.

She ran a venue in Oakland called Oakland Secret, a punk venue where I’d vend at regularly as an artist. She made a safe space for queer artists, artists of color, and local furs too. I am forever grateful for her work both in the Bay Area creative scene and online, and am forever changed by the totality of her impact.

They stress that Tanabata, and its tradition of writing wishes on tanzaku (paper strips) before tying those up on bamboo, spread among Edo commoners thanks to the terakoya (temple elementary school system) which increased literacy.

The boy is anxiously wishing for his handwriting to get better, and below him you can see how the classical rectangular tanzaku could also be shaped like notebook, abacus or writing brush, or watermelon or gourd - something popular among young students ^^

The street peddlers below offers Tanabata related goods such as bamboo stalks and the tanzaku papers. Besides them, a popular summer dish of somen (cold noodles) is eaten for good luck (the longer the noodle, the longer the life).
