âI rented a jet ski.â Izuku offered, keeping his eyes locked on the water. He could feel a pair of eyes on him but didnât move before Roro and Lala came bounding to the umbrella with the sunscreen.
âRoland, while we are out on the water, watch Lala,â Rody demanded. The boy nodded, understanding his role as an elder brotherâ that was until Lala let out a frustrated groan.
âIâm not a kid anymore!â she scolded, crossing her arms over her chest. âYou two have to stop treating me like oneâ and itâs Laila. Lala was the nickname you called me when I was little!â
âAlright, alright.â Rody sighed before Izuku handed the kids his phone.
âIf you show this ticket to the vendor over there, theyâll give you wristbands to use the equipment,â Izuku explained, and that was enough to get a smile on Lalaâs face as she took the phone and ran off toward the little shack not far from their spot. âLetâs get some sunscreen, and then weâll go get the jet ski.â
âSounds good. Mind getting my back real quick?â Rody asked, picking up the sunscreen bottle and handing it to Izuku. The man nodded, taking the bottle and pouring some of the cream onto Rodyâs back. The shock of the cold made Rody squeak. Izuku couldnât help but laugh at this.
âSorry,â Izuku chuckled as he rubbed the cream into the otherâs skin, making sure to get every spot so he didnât burn. After Izuku was done, Rody helped him in the same way. Then it was onto the rest of their bodies. It took a while, but after they were lathered up in protective sunscreen, they were ready to go. By that time, the kids had come back with his phone and were off toward the storage of water toys. Packing his phone away in the bag he had brought, the duo were off as well, heading toward the stored jet skis.
âReservation name?â a man asked, obviously a worker hired to protect the toys from those who hadnât paid.
âMidoriya,â Izuku stated, and the man looked through the list until he found it. The man stood up from his beach chair and walked to one of the skis. He unlocked it and started pushing it away from the small dock. Once it was away from the dock, it was handed over to Izuku and Rody, who had followed the man out into the water.
âDo you want to drive it?â Izuku asked to which Rody gave him a concerned look.
âIâve never ridden one before,â he answered, and it was clear he didnât want to try either.
âAlright,â Izuku stated as he hopped onto the vehicle and offered a hand to Rody, a bright smile on his face as he imagined all the fun this would be. Rody took his hand and hopped onto the seat right behind him, scooting a bit and getting comfortable on a rather uncomfortable seat. âHold on tight,â Izuku stated as he grabbed hold of the handles. In response to this, Rody wrapped his arms around Izukuâs midsection and scooted just a bit further forward. With Rody hanging onto him, Izuku turned on the engine, and they were off.
Immediately, Rody clung to him for dear life, but the longer they rode, the more comfortable he became. Soon enough, Rody had his hands in the air and was having the time of his life. They raced other jet skis, and even boats couldnât keep up with them. By the time they got back to shore, Rody was riding an adrenaline rush, and his legs were about as sturdy as jello. âCareful!â Izuku tried to warn before Rody flopped over into the water.
The man popped back up out of the water and continued laughing. âJump in!â Rody called as he swam out a little bit. Izuku was quick to follow, though his descent into the water was a little more graceful than Rody's. It was pleasantly cool on Izukuâs sun-warmed skin. While keeping an eye on the jet ski, Izuku swam alongside Rody.
Amidst this moment, everything was serene as they were a bit further out. They could hardly hear the screaming kids. Now that they were alone and calm, Izuku had a moment to think. He thought of all the times he had seen Rody before and all they had been through. It brought up a lot of feelings, one more so than the rest. He had known what this feeling was for a while but never wanted to say anything for fear their perfect friendship would be ruined. His heart picked up when Rody spun around to face Izuku. âWe should probably get back. Roro and Lala are probably getting hungry.â
