One of the few images I have left from my days studying photography at college. A still life masquerading as a portraiture. I can never decide if I love or hate the highlights on the skirt.
I finally marked the blank page
There is nothing scarier than a blank page.
So type words, words that mean things, words that don’t mean things. At the end of the day, words only mean things when in a supporting context.
What kind of context should I write? That’s the thing that always stops me from getting started. So many ideas, so much real life experience to draw from... But no inspiration. Unless you can count that feeling of ever-building pressure inside the brain to get whatever is inside it out.
A common helpful piece of advice people love to give is to write what you know. I suppose that’s instead of writing what you don’t know?
I’ve tried making lists of things I could write about. From those I’ve made mind maps, from those I’ve typed base concepts for characters and plots and then, then it’s a blank page. And nothing is scarier than a blank page.
