Final Proposal - Kathryn
What I'm hoping to do for my final is an exploratory space that tells the story of this eccentric older man caught in the past and his fixation on preserving those memories through obsessive collecting and analog technologies. As you travel through the space, I want it to transform over time so that you see how these memories start to morph and fall apart - I kind of want to highlight how the way that we remember things is highly fictitious. I have a couple of sketches of ideas for it the space that I'll put below:Â
The starting image/idea of this is a person who saves paper copies of everything he's ever read - newspapers, essays, letters, etc. He keeps all of these pieces of paper in these gargantuan filing cabinets that he goes up to when he needs to find some sort of information. I like the idea of something happening in the middle of the experience that causes one of the cabinets to fall over/pieces of memories to erupt in this storm of paper falling from the sky - so among my unity tutorials "falling paper" is going to among them.Â
Another scene I'm thinking about is this office embedded in the hull of a boat. a whole bunch of knick-knacks are hanging from the series (things like bottled ships, notes, stones, old tools, etc.). One of the things I really want to do is to have a model of a Rolleiflex (the old camera you see in the first picture) in this room that if you look into, you either either see a shot of an old idyllic marsh or you are actually transported into another scene.Â
Those are some of my thoughts. I'm possibly going to have to learn how to do transformations to different levels or how I can change a scene based on time/some sort of trigger
