Prefect Duties || Lily + Marlene
"Shouldâve jinxed the awful stuff in his trousers, frankly. Regretting that a bit now, if Iâm honest. You know, after two years as a prefect, Iâm fairly sure that isnât how rounds work. Though, Iâd be willing to bet a few people would argue Iâm doing it wrong, so who knows? Besides, itâs not all about dodging detentions. Perhaps Iâm just wittingly charming enough to do that on my own."
"Remember? Iâve had enough trouble trying to erase that memory from my brain. Honest, I swear that was the slowest carriage ride in all of existence. Oh, Merlin, I think Iâm having flashbacks, that was just awful!â
"I suppose it's a bit too unfeasible to demand a time turner in order to return to this moment and hex the idiot's junk and expect the Ministry to actually go for it, isn't it? Bugger. Though, I mean, we could always steal one. I have connections. Or we could just track down the boy. Really. I'm itching to do something, and I think improving the male species is a worthy use of my time. Detention would even be worth itâand honestly, maybe that's how rounds should work. I'd be a great addition, Lil, just thinkâI have no prerogative to be remotely responsible nor polite to nonsense humans, because I don't have a badgeâor the kind of personality, reallyâbut because I'd be on patrol with Hogwarts' future Head Girl, they'd all be too confused to argue! Bloody brilliant, really. And please, I'm charmingâapparently, professors just don't like it when your charm is infused with some cheeky wit. No accounting for taste. You are quite charming, thoughâstill, so are me and James and, well, all the Marauders, really, and we still get detention. I mean, we deserve it, but still."
"Right? I mean, what were they thinking? Did they not realise they were sharing the carriage with two perfectly innocent, lovely upperclassmen with no desire to be traumatised within an inch of their life? Evacuatingâyes, evacuating, I don't care if James laughed when I said that when I told him the sordid tale, it's the most accurate termâthat carriage felt like the greatest blessing of my life."
