We need to talk about the fact that this is 1980 and the perceived target demographic was inclusive. Because as much as modern nerd culture would have you believe that women are latecomers, exclusion on a corporate level was largely an after-product of the early 80s. It’s this false perception that allows modern gaming companies to get away with some pretty problematic advertising today under the guise of pandering to the false target demographic of 16-25 year old males, when in reality, almost half of all game players are women.

(I’m pretty sure it’s actually more than half now…)

I was that DM. Heck, I still HAVE those Dungeon Floors, as well as my basic D&D set with the Caves of Chaos. (Although later, I wasn’t the DM, because Judy was our best DM. And usually, there were more girls than boys when I played D&D.)
