NIGHTMARE .

     touma , a sugar uncle : a man who gives money and only expects the other person’s happiness in return 

     “ shoo , get yourself something to eat and go home . kids like you don’t belong out here . ” 

touma seeing all these kids ? guess it’s adoption time .

he just barely catches her smile , free hand reaching to pull comforter up over small body and up to her shoulders . a long time ago , a friend would do this for him --- and it was strange that it seemed time to be his role to fill . even now he found himself with a small sort of nostalgic smile of his own . never did touma think he’d be suited to take care of a child like this , nor did he believe he’d be good at it if he tried . gaze narrows slightly , lightly pinching at her cheek . “ i promise , if it’ll make you feel better , i’ll go ahead and lay my futon out next to yours . ” not that he sleeps , but maybe it’ll ease her mind . for now , he remains seated right next to her , “ i’m the hero of this story --- i’ll keep you safe . ”

“    something doesn’t feel quite right today .     ” “    trying to rewind to a time and place .      ” “    my heart skipped a beat when i saw your face .     ” “    i wouldn’t say i’m lost . i’m just misplaced .    ” “    i’m never close but i’m near to turning this corner , let’s fast forward .   ” “    saw you running away for too long now .    ” “    they say it’s cold outside tonight .    ” “    why don’t we go inside ?    ” “    i don’t even feel a thing anymore .    ” “    i watched you walk away with the rest of my life .    ” “    i’m trying to escape .    ” “    i don’t want you to .    ” “    i don’t want you to go .    ” “    i’ve been running away for too long now .    ” “    i’m getting tired and i just can’t fight it .    ” “    i just can’t fight it .    ” “    so if you’re coming my way just move along .    ” “    we’ll fly away together and hide from all this weather out here .    ” 

     he’s not used to the warmth seeping through the cloth on his chest , but it wasn’t entirely uncomfortable for him either . cradled body settles into a neatly laid out futon , and he makes sure to stay close , hand reaching out to smooth hair off her forehead . “ i’ll stay with you , ” he repeats , thumb lightly brushing over a cheek , “ and if the nightmares come back ... i’ll --- i’ll be here to chase them away again . ” a monster could scare other monsters away , right ? 

     “ probably , ” he muses , brow tilting incredulously , “ there really is no right or wrong side --- just those who deem just and those that deem wrong . it’s societal . if they only see me as someone who can do no right , why should i offer them any different ? ”

     bunny … he’s never heard that term of endearment towards him before , and he’s unsure whether or not his stoic expression came off as ‘ sad ’ . head shakes , unsure of how to deal with someone like her , so he keeps his distance , arms raised slightly in a defensive position . “ i’m not , ” came a calculated answer , still wary of how to deal with her . he eventually frowns , waving her off . “ i’ve better things to do than answer stupid questions . ”

     new starter call since i accidentally deleted my old one .

                                                  he’s seen her before and he’s apt                                                 to avoid such a person --- all six eyes                                              narrow mockingly , before turning his back                                               on pro hero . “ no one of consequence ,                                                 i’ll just be on my way ... elsewhere . ”
