why is "bleedout spot" such a meme suddenly? you are not going to have a noble violent death, go work on being a useful person who is alive

It’s just a popular male fantasy. Shit, I had an academic article about why it’s so popular but I can’t find it.

at least for me it's an easy answer for what my life was for. i assume it's Shitty Life Syndrome manifesting into suicidal ideation but dressed up to be heroic instead of pathetic/tragic for a lot of people

After taking care of my parents day in and day out for 10 years and watching them degrade slowly and die, it took my mother and father years till they got to the point where they could no longer function, and then another year or two before they slipped into comas and passed. Strangely, they both passed almost exactly the same way, five years apart. But I never want to go that way. And I made a conscious decision at the time that if I was ever going to get to that point where I'm incapacitated, like they were, I was going to shoot myself or I was going to find some other way to take myself out. I would much rather bleed out on the sand in a wonderful location, like in my desert, than go the slow declination into absolute pain and hell that they did. I feel so bad that that's how they went, but they were very much against taking their own lives, which I understand, but I'm going to go out on my own terms. So that's why I like the bleed out spot, and I've got one chosen.

I'm in a similar situtation to uncle-beanbag-mojave was in a couple years ago. For me a bleed out spot means I'm not gonna put someone through the marathon of agony of caring for me.
