âI can imagine it must. Though monster attacks have not been quite as prevalent as of late, there is ever a need for someone of your talents.â Richard turned to face her fully, the rustle of the trees leaves echo behind him as the gentle night breeze toys with them. The soft sound of water lapping at the rocks adds a level of peace to the air. It was little surprise she found respite here, even before considering what it must mean to her personally.
âEven so, please be certain not to overwork yourself. I will be the first to tell you how much help you and your network of colleagues have been, not only to Windor but to everyone on Ephinea, however, I do not wish for that to come at any personal cost to you. Be certain to always consider your own happiness. Even the things we love and enjoy most can wear one down if they are not cautious.â
Though he said as much, he was perhaps equally guilty when it came to the duties of the throne. There was never any end to the demands upon his time, to the things that needed doing and Richard rarely if ever truly found a momentsâ pause. He worked tirelessly; he could not afford not to. All this mess was his doing, he owed it to his people, to those who worked as endlessly as Cheria did, not to falter.
âPerhaps not as well as I should,â he confesses. âIt can be difficult to find the time. There is still so much that needs doing. Perhaps I need heed my own advice.â A soft chuckle to himself. There was a difference however, between he and Cheria: in his mind she deserved to find happiness.
âI wonder if that is what brought us both here.â
âMaybe...â she said with a light sigh. Cheria knew that her job was what allowed so many people to live peacefully, and yet she still felt that it was never enough.
âBut please, do be sure to take care of yourself. Get enough sleep, and donât push yourself too much. I say that as a friend, not just a medic.â
She knew this was easier said than done, but in her experience, sometimes it just takes a little push for something to happen. And that like him, she should try to take her own words to heart.
To be honest, it felt rather strange to call herself Richardâs friend. She longed to get to know him better for herself rather than through Asbel and Sophieâs stories, that much was true, she just wasnât sure that they were that close yet. Not yet, at least. In her heart, she never truly held any of his actions against him, and more than anything, she could sympathize with his situation.
It was for this reason that she so dearly hoped for him to find peace and happiness for himself, as he had hoped for her.
âIf anything ever bothers you, feel free to come talk to me about it. I donât mind listening.â
She wasnât entirely sure what prompted her to say this. She knew that they were both far too busy to make pointless trips to find the other just for idle talk, but having offered alone made her feel a weight lift off her chest.
